Inquisitor by R.J. Blain - my Review.

If you're a fan of Urban Fantasy, werewolves, and witches then Inquisitor is a must read for you. It's fast-paced, action-packed with just a very, very, little hint at romance.

In Inquisitor Blain added some unique touch to the story. Like, this funny fact - a werewolf that allergic to dogs. Werewolf-witch as the heroine make a very interesting character.

Basically, the plot is kind of murder mystery. The main character gets accused of a crime she didn’t commit. If Allison (It's really funny that this is the consecutive book, that I review that the heroin has the same name) doesn’t solve the mystery murders, she’ll get executed. To make matters worse, the victims are all werewolves.

Allison is a werewolf, and not just any werewolf- She is, as she puts it "wolf, woman, and occasional witch", making her very rare and very powerful. Allison has to balance the three parts of herself (Human , werewolf and witch) and it isn't easy.

Allison falls into trouble after a Halloween party. As a long living creature she succeed to accumulate, an immense wealth, which help her to be very very independent. before all hell broke she work as accountant for a rich guy from a long blood lone of witches. This is the same guy asked her to pretend to be his Fianceé so his adopted mother mother will back off from his shoulders.

When her witch Samantha is killed, she retreats to one of her identities (CEO of Marrodin, a huge company) to hunt down her killer. She also changing her name back to Victoria - Vickie (and this is very important, because she tend to hide from this history. However, this leads her into more and more danger. She also, make contact with the Inquisition. The Inquisition is a former "employer" of Allison's and they're ruthless.

Along the way she show us that her tough pretense is only a deep skin, as she find a time to take into her care two young children of a an employee who got murdered.

For summery - Great read! Blain brings this world to light in an incomparably vivid manner. The book provides so many twists that keep you reading until the very end, and keep you from guessing right most of the time. I am so ready to next book Winter Wolf (Witch & Wolf Book 2).

About the author

RJ Blain suffers from a Moleskine journal obsession, a pen fixation, and a terrible tendency to pun without warning.

When she isn't playing pretend, she likes to think she's a cartographer and a sumi-e painter. In reality, she herds cats and a husband, and obeys the commands of Tsu Dhi, the great warrior fish.

In her spare time, she daydreams about being a spy. Should that fail, her contingency plan involves tying her best of enemies to spinning wheels and quoting James Bond villains until she is satisfied.

About her writing:

Fantasy

Long ago, the continents of Alskoran and Skorans were once one. Under the steady pull of time, reality became legend, legend became myth, and myth faded to an obscurity known by none. The truth behind the calamity that tore the land asunder is no longer known, but the fate of the people are still connected despite the vast and treacherous seas separating them.

In Alskoran, the favor of the Sun Goddess wanes, and a shadow creeps over the lands. A misunderstood, reluctant and crippled King wanted nothing more than to be left alone. But in order for there to be peace, he must first wage war.

Enter the world of The Requiem for the Rift King.

To the north and east of the Rift, Arasanor is an island many believe is a myth. Those who seek it out rarely return. Those who do don’t speak of what they’ve seen.

The truth is something that could forever change the kingdoms of Alskoran.

Enter the world of Arasanor, the City of Clocks.

Skorans, once part of Alskorans, is faring no better than its counterpart. The people fear that the God of the Garden has turned his back on them. But all things come with a price, and not everyone is willing to pay it.

Enter the world of The Fall of Erelith.

Urban Fantasy

The East Coast of the United States is a land where most wolves have been driven into extinction. While the wild places of the forests and mountains are no longer able to support the most respected of pack hunters, the cities have become home for the witches and werewolves of the modern era.

However, not everyone wants the creatures of myth and legend to survive. The Inquisition has begun.

Enter the world of Inquisitor, a Witch & Wolf novel.

Storm Without End (Requiem for the Rift King, Book 1)

Kalen’s throne is his saddle, his crown is the dirt on his brow, and his right to rule is sealed in the blood that stains his hand. Few know the truth about the one-armed Rift King, and he prefers it that way. When people get too close to him, they either betray him or die. The Rift he rules cares nothing for the weak. More often than not, even the strong fail to survive.

When he’s abducted, his disappearance threatens to destroy his home, his people, and start a hopeless and bloody war. There are many who desire his death, and few who hope for his survival. With peace in the Six Kingdoms quickly crumbling, it falls on him to try to stop the conflict swiftly taking the entire continent by storm.

But something even more terrifying than the machinations of men has returned to the lands: The skreed. They haven’t been seen for a thousand years, and even the true power of the Rift King might not be enough to save his people — and the world — from destruction.

The Eye of God (The Fall of Erelith, Book 1)

Blaise tries to act like a good human, but someone always manages to ruin things for him. When the Emperor’s most powerful weapon is stolen and its human vessel is kidnapped from the Arena, Blaise must choose between meddling in the affairs of mortals or remaining true to his duty.

To make matters worse, the Archbishop has betrayed the church and God by giving the Emperor the second piece of the Triad, the Heart of God. Should Blaise stand idle and leave the mortals to their own devices, the people of Erelith won’t just lose their lives: Their souls will be destroyed by a power that was never meant to fall into mortal hands.

If Blaise can find the Eye of God, he might be able to save the humans from themselves. Unfortunately, his only hope for success lies in the hands of a slave who wants nothing more than to die. If Blaise can’t save Terin and enlist his help, the Erelith Empire will fall.

Inquisitor

When Allison is asked to play Cinderella-turned-Fianceé at a Halloween ball, the last thing she expected was to be accused of murder on the same night. She has to find the killer or she’ll be put to death for the crimes she didn’t commit. To make matters worse, the victims are all werewolves.

On the short list of potential victims, Allison has to act fast, or the killer will have one more body to add to his little black book of corpses.

There’s only one problem: One of the deaths has struck too close to home, and Allison’s desire for self-preservation may transform into a quest for vengeance…

The Hunted Wizard

When Nicole dabbled in the occult, she lost it all: Her voice, her family, and her name. Now on the run from the Inquisition, she must prove to herself—and the world—that not all wizards are too dangerous to let live.

The savage murder of a bookstore employee throws Nicole into the middle of Inquisition business, like it or not. Driven by her inability to save the young man’s life, she decides to hunt the killer on her own. Using forbidden magic to investigate the past, she learns that the murderer is in fact a disease that could kill the entire werewolf race.

Forced to choose between saving lives and preserving her own, Nicole embraces the magic that sent her into exile. Without werewolves, the power of the Inquisition would dwindle, and she could live without being hunted.

Nicole’s only hope for success lies in the hands of the werewolves she hates and the Inquisition she fears, but finding someone to trust is only the beginning of her problems. There are those who want to ensure that the werewolves go extinct and that the Inquisition falls.

But, if she fails to find a cure, her family—including her twin sister—will perish…
