1) Striped Pigs and Blind Tigers- When the sale of alcohol became illegal, several enterprising liquor salesmen decided to make money another way. They wouldn’t sell alcohol to their customers; instead, they would sell them a chance to see something unusual, like a pig with stripes or a blind tiger. A man stepped from the nearest vehicle.

Cole froze, suddenly wondering if Robert and Melissa had been right. He was seeing things. He was losing his mind Because the man was glowing.

“Seems you’re having some car trouble,” the man said with a smile. From the vehicles behind him, three other men climbed out.

A faint silvery sheen covered them, obscured by their clothes but blatantly visible on every piece of exposed skin. Cole’s heart pounded as he stared at them, making his headache surge back in full force.

Clearly, he’d hit his head a whole lot harder than he thought this morning.

“Oh, it’s nothing,” Vaughn replied, giving no sign he noticed the surreal glow coming from the other men. “The wife’s car just died.

You know how it is.”

The man chuckled agreeably, the humor never touching his eyes. “Right,” he said, glancing to his companions.

Metal shrieked as the driver’s side door of Vaughn’s sedan tore from its hinges and scythed through the air. Spinning, the counselor threw his hands in front of his face. The door rocketed into the night sky. Whirling around, Vaughn barely had time to flinch before the closest of the men slammed into him, crushing him against the trunk of Robert’s car.

The counselor’s head snapped sideways, propelled by nothing Cole could see. Blood dripped from his mouth, and from the bushes, Cole could hear him fighting for air against the weight of the man bearing down on him.

“What do you want?” Vaughn gasped.

But the spark that ignited the apocalypse never went out.

And the scorch is about to begin…

When Team Dragon rescues Emmy from the government lab, they think the future is finally safe. But they soon discover that Emmy has a secret—a secret so dangerous it could trigger the very apocalypse Connor and Caleb were sent back in time to prevent.

As a dragon hunter, Connor has committed his life to saving the world. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do to complete his mission…even if it meant betraying his brother and losing Trinity’s heart. Even if it meant doing the unthinkable.

But a desperate choice meant to prevent The Scorch, may be the spark that sets the world aflame once more.

The epic conclusion to the genre-bending Scorched series, which Melissa de la Cruz, New York Times bestselling author of the Blue Bloods series, called "A heart-pounding, twisty, time-travel fantasy.”

“Okay, Fire Kissed,” he said. “It’s showtime.”

Together they jumped out of the truck, slamming the doors behind them. Connor ran around the back, rolling up the door and pulling out a huge box. Trinity helped him heave it onto the loading dock.

“Are you okay in there?” she whispered to the box. “Perfect,” Nate assured her from inside. “You guys go on ahead. I should be close enough now to hack into their security cameras and get them offline.” He paused then added, “Good luck. Just don’t forget about me once you have your dragon.”

“Never,” Trinity assured him, patting the box. Then she rose to her feet and approached Connor. “Ready?”

“As I’ll ever be.”

With confident, casual steps, they strode up to the guard, who was propped in a chair by the elevator, his feet up, nose in a book, completely ignoring the chaos around him. Guess deliveries weren’t in his job description. Connor gave him a small smile. “We need the elevator,” he informed him.

“Yeah, well, I need my ex-wife to get off my back,” the guard said lazily, snapping his gum. “We’ve all got problems.” Connor’s eyes zeroed in on him. “I don’t think you under- stand,” he said. “We need the elevator. We need to get upstairs. You need to let us in.”

Trinity drew in a breath, watching him work. She had to admit, Connor looked particularly hot when he was working to manipulate people’s minds. It was like he got this look in his eyes—those blue, glowing eyes of his—like he was some kind of Jedi Master or something. Truth be told, it kind of made her want to jump his bones. Not that this was the time or the place.

Pushing the inappropriate thought down, she turned back to his victim. Sure enough, the man’s face had gone slack, and he was staring up at Connor with vacant eyes. “You need the elevator,” he droned. “You need to get upstairs. You need me to let you in.”

Then, to Trinity’s excitement, he slowly rose to his feet, walked over to the elevator in question, and inserted his key. Just like that. A moment later, the doors yawned open. The guard looked at them expectantly.

Trin flashed Connor an approving look. You didn’t even need my help for that one, she teased.

Yeah, well, it’s all you from here on out, he shot back, but he looked pleased by the compliment all the same.

Welcome to Fortune’s Island, where the only rule is to follow your heart.

When he sees the wild, beautiful blonde again, dancing her way around The Love Shack, the memories of Darcy’s soft skin, gentle touch, and heated kisses come rushing back. Excerpt
Just as Darcy turned toward table seven, the door to the restaurant opened, and the last bit of afternoon sun hit the floor, flooding along the wood like an instant gold river.

And Kincaid Foster walked into Darcy’s life, as easily as he’d walked out of it. Just like that.

She’d have recognized him anywhere, even though it had been seven years since she’d seen him last. Her heart stopped, and the perpetual motion that made up Darcy’s life came to a halt.

“Waitress? Hey, is that my burger? I’d like to eat today, you know.”

The voice drew Darcy back to the present. To her job. To the ray balanced on one hand. To the food getting cold while she stood here, letting Kincaid Foster have some kind of effect on her. Which he no longer did. Not at all.

She spun to the right, deposited said burger in front of a burly guy with a beard, then headed over to table seven to take their drink orders. Still, her peripheral vision kept straying to Kincaid, watching as he waited for his eyes to adjust to the dim interior, then headed across the room to the bar. He never even looked her way once.

That stung a bit, she had to admit. They’d been something once—or at least she had thought they were, until Kincaid let her go as easily as letting the wind snatch away a tissue. She’d thought he would fight for her, that she meant more than that, but…

It had taken her a year to get over him, maybe more, but she was now.

Over him. For sure.

“Uh, what did you say you wanted to order again?” she asked the middle-aged couple seated at the four-top before her. She readied a pen and her order pad, but her gaze strayed again to Kincaid. Damn, he looked good.

Still tall, muscular, with the kind of broad shoulders that seemed to welcome a heavy load. His dark hair was a little long, and one wave hooked over his right brow. She knew his hazel eyes, knew them as well as her own, knew the definition of his hands, the way his smile could make an entire room disappear.

“Miss? Miss?”

Darcy turned back. Again. “Um, sorry. What can I get you?”

The woman’s face filled with annoyance. “A menu? You seated us and said you’d be right back with menus. That was ten minutes ago. Can’t tell you what we want to eat until we know what you have to eat.”

“Oh, oh, right, sorry.” Darcy snagged two menus from the hostess station and brought them back to the table. Then she beelined for the kitchen, her brain as frazzled as a summer storm.

Before Darcy got more than a foot inside the door, Jillian was grabbing her arm and hauling her to the side. “Did you see who just walked in?”

Darcy scowled. Did the man wear a neon sign around his neck or something? “A whole bunch of customers waiting on food.”

“And Kincaid Foster.”

“I saw him.”

“And?”

“And he’s here.” She gave a casual shrug. “What’s the big deal?”

Jillian arched a brow. “You don’t care?”

“Of course not. He and I are in the past. The way past. Hell, I was barely out of high school. I hardly remember him.”

“Uh-huh. Then why are you hiding out in the kitchen?”

“I’m not hiding out. I’m waiting for an order.” She leaned against the counter and feigned impatience with the kitchen staff. “For, uh, table seven.”

Jillian grinned. “You just seated table seven. They haven’t ordered yet.”

Darcy sighed. “Okay, yes, maybe I am taking a breather in here. I just didn’t expect to see him. Ever again.”

“His family does have a house on the island.”

“That they haven’t visited in more than a decade.” Not that Darcy had been paying attention. Not one bit.

“True.” Jillian crossed her arms. “Wonder why he’s back.”

“Well, I don’t.”

Lenny put a heaping plate of buffalo wings on the warming shelf. “Order up, Darce. Table four.”

Thank God. The last thing Darcy wanted to do was stand here discussing a man who was ancient history. They were over, done. Had been for a long damned time. He was probably married to some pretty little socialite who wore twinsets and dressed their four kids in matching outfits from some designer baby offshoot.

She pushed the swinging door and headed out to the dining room. The party was ramping up as the room filled with college kids on summer break. They lingered around the jukebox in a pack, sipping at beers that dangled from their fingertips. The girls had on bikinis and sheer dresses, even though temperatures hadn’t quite hit the eighties yet. The boys hung a little behind the girls, watching their hips sway to the music.

An old Simple Plan song came on the jukebox, pounding out the lyrics to “Addicted,” with a heavy bass. For a second, Darcy was back in that summer after she graduated, that magical summer when it seemed likeeverything was going to be perfect.

That same summer when she’d scrawled a promise on a dollar bill, oblivious to how her life was going to change days later.

New Adult, Contemporary Romance

Four years ago, a car accident ended Zedekiah Harrow’s ballet career and sent Philadelphia Ballet principal dancer Alyona Miller spinning toward the breakdown that suspended her own. What they lost on the side of the road that day can never be replaced, and grief is always harshest under a spotlight...

Now twenty-three, Zed teaches music and theatre at a private school in Washington, D.C. and regularly attends AA meetings to keep the pain at bay. Aly has returned to D.C. to live with her mother while trying to recover from the mental and physical breakdown that forced her to take a leave of absence from the ballet world, and her adoring fans.

When Zed and Aly run into each other in a coffee shop, it’s as if no time has passed at all. But without the buffer and escape of dance—and with so much lust, anger and heartbreak hanging between them—their renewed connection will either allow them to build the together they never had... or destroy the fragile recoveries they've only started to make.
Book One of the District Ballet Company

Excerpt

Zed

Some things you’ll never erase from your memory. In front of me, the ice-blond braid swinging on a primly dressed woman’s back makes me sway on the spot. I know that braid, and it doesn’t belong here. Not where I am. Anywhere but here, here where it brings with it a tide of memories I’ve worked hard to bury. Images, bright and sharp and very red, slam around in my head, and I curl my fingers into my palm, hard. The pain pushes the memories back where they belong.

My first thought is, It can’t be her.

My second thought is, Oh, God, please don’t let her see me walk.

It might not be her. Lots of women have blond hair, and a lot of women dye their hair to get her particular shade of gold. Three people between us, and I can’t see her profile. I study her neck, her shoulders, the way she stands. I’m almost positive it is her. A certain unmistakable, accidental grace to the way her hands shake when she unsnaps her wallet.

“Small tea, one orange tea bag, one vanilla. I’ll pay for both.”

Her tea order hasn’t changed in the four years since I’ve seen her, or the eleven years I’ve known her. Her voice is a little smaller, a reflection of her body. But she still likes to taste things vibrantly. And she’s the only one ordering a hot drink in the late July heat.

In the last memory I have of her, she’s stretched out next to me in bed, wearing nothing but a smile. She glowed, on and off the stage. This girl, at the counter now, is anything other than bright. She moves dully. She used to lean on counters and flirt, regardless of who was at the register. She hasn’t flipped her hair once. Everything I know is in the past tense.

I almost say her name, almost call out to her against all my better instincts. Then they ask her for the name for the cup, and I hear her say, “Aly.”

When the photos arrived, my plan started to form. I refused to let him be forgotten. So I took those photos and mapped out the places I’d go. I planned how I’d fall into his footsteps and how good it would feel to walk the same streets he did in this city that he loved so much.

I thought being here would provide some closure, some way to move on. That was probably my dumbest idea yet.

Because Wakefield is everywhere.
And nowhere at all.
He’s nothing more than the name my parents whisper.

The ink behind my ear.
A memory crammed in a box or a drawer.
I lean into the desk and suck in a deep breath, just as the bell above the door jingles. I sit up a little straighter and work to curve my lips into a small smile.

“Hello?” I say, tapping my pen on the counter top to get the attention of the tall, dark-haired guy who just waltzed in. “Over here, appointment?”

He likely doesn’t have one. No one ever does. They’re mostly tourists who think they need something a little more permanent than a jar of sea shells or a bag of salt water taffy to remember their trip to Silver Strand. So they come to see Rocko, who never turns anyone away. Which means that this guy, or any other douche that comes in without an appointment, will be here all night deciding which tattoo to get to complement their Affliction or Ed Hardy shirts and Rocko will do it. I’ll be stuck here, too, because, though Rocko may be skilled with the tattoo gun, reconciling the register at night is not his specialty. That’s hat I’m here for.

“Oh,hey, sorry‘bout that,”gorgeous surfer-boy finally says. When he fixes his light eyes on me, a swirling inferno spreads under my skin despite the ocean breeze wafting through the door. “I don’t have an official appointment, but I called and talked to Rocko earlier. He said it was cool if I came by.”

Sigh.

“Of course he did,” I mumble, trying to look annoyed, but I can’t help returning the lopsided smile that hasn’t budged from his face. I ignore the way my stomach knots and attempt to be professional. Or as professional as the counter girl at a tat shop needs to be.

“So, is it alright if I flip through the books?” He means the collection of heavy leather portfolios, but his eyes stay fixed on me, sexy, friendly, and sparked with that tiny kernel of hungry appreciation I now know as lust. One look from him and a thousand hormonal dominoes tip over and click to every part of my body that can get hot or wet or racing.
