The Dawn of Destiny audiobook project is a full adaptation of the first book in the Epic series. It's not your typical “audiobook,” even though technically that's what it is. When people hear “audiobook,” there’s a certain type of thing that usually comes to mind. Most likely it’s the thought of someone reading a book to them, occasionally with music playing in the background. This isn't that.

What you’re going to hear in this project, is more of an audio “experience,” the audio equivalent of a summer blockbuster movie. Over thirty voice actors played a role in this. This is ear-splitting sound effects, bombastic music, and characters shouting back and forth in the middle of a war zone. This is unlike anything you've ever heard.

Author's Bio:

Born and raised in Cajun country, Lee Stephen spent his childhood paddling pirogues through the marshes of South Louisiana. When he wasn't catching bullfrogs or playing with alligators in the bathtub (both true), he was escaping to the world of the imagination, creating worlds in his mind filled with strange creatures and epic journeys. This hasn't stopped.

Now a resident of Luling, Louisiana, Lee spends time every day delving into the world of Epic, the science-fiction series that has come to define him as a writer and producer. Alongside his wife, Lindsey, their son, Levi, and their dog, Jake, Lee has made it a mission to create a series that is unique in its genre—one unafraid to address the human condition while staying grounded in elements of faith.

In addition to writing, Lee works full-time for the Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness. He has also spent time as a church deacon, guitar hobbyist, and New Orleans Saints season ticket holder. He is a graduate of Louisiana College in Pineville.

EXCERPT II CHAPTER 19

“POSSESSION IS THE ultimate pleasure,” said Cameron, admiring my nakedness from a few feet away.

Had he spoken those words prior to securing me to the Saint Andrew’s Cross in the center of Chrysalis’s dungeon, I may well have put up more resistance. This free standing crisscrossed board would allow him full access to my body from every angle. He’d seduced and coaxed me to follow him and I’d gladly held his hand all the way down here, taking the short journey from the foyer into the lowest depths of Chrysalis. Passing door after door, each room begged to be investigated, but we’d not stopped to peek in any of them. We’d entered the room at the end of the hallway.

Cameron had undressed me and I’d willingly let him, lifting my arms above my head as he’d stripped me. I’d obeyed like a well trained sub as he unhooked my bra strap and removed it. After nudging me back against the fixture, he’d positioned me spread-eagled with my wrists and ankles secured within leather straps. He’d pulled them tight to ensure movement was impossible.

Operatic music bestowed a sensuous backdrop of soprano’s dramatically vying for attention, an extension of this already exotic mood.

That daring decision had led me to this.

Rising from subspace, I opened my eyes as though awakening from a dream. Spellbound, my thoughts spiraled out of control. My body trembled with need and a lust for him to be closer. All I wanted was to have him inside me. That was the only cure I needed. I saw that now.

Five minutes ago, though it could have been longer, I’d been weighing the pros and cons of bolting out the front door and somehow, in true Cameron style, he’d casually led me into his red walled playroom.

I’d walked beside him willingly.

This dungeon was unlike any I’d seen, decorated with the decadence I’d come to expect from him. Several oriental-styled cabinets were flush against each wall and probably contained all sorts of whips, paddles, and other accoutrements. Mirrors and contemporary artwork hung between bronze sconces, providing an ethereal air. Low lights showcased the ceiling fixtures that were perfect for the art of suspension, dangling submissives and leaving them vulnerable, their body’s secured with rope or chains or whatever else the dominant desired. The wonder of floating would ensure they remained in subspace. Sharp hooks were fashioned on the end of some for those with a overly masochistic leaning. I offered a silent prayer he’d never use those on me.

I wondered if, after our session, I’d get to recover on that regal four poster bed with its carved posts. It was artfully strewn with drapes and chains and leather cuffs, just in case the submissive got too comfortable.

A rush of excitement flooded my veins and my trembling limbs struggled to be free from these leather bindings. Twisting my wrists, I was shocked by the sting to my flesh. Being ensnared was mesmerizing. These straps felt agonizingly tight and trying to escape them was thrilling.

I was soaking wet, and my scent gave me away.

Cameron dragged what felt like a whip along my backside, sending spasms into the center of my universe, soothing, luring, seducing me to surrender.

His handsome face came into focus and shadows danced over his beautiful features, his stern stance proving he ruled the room. He held up the whip for me to see.

Cameron had stripped off his jacket and shirt and was now naked from the waist up, his black pants hanging loose over his hips, revealing his muscular sculptured body, that incredible toned torso flexing as he moved.

He snapped the whip. “Are you worthy of this?”
“If you deem me worthy, Sir.”
“I do.”
The strike to my left thigh made me flinch. He continued on, strike after strike, circling my

body with the ease of a predator overwhelming its prey. The stinging left bright red welts and they burned and hummed when his strike left them. The snap of the crop between my thighs made me jump. With his left hand, he eased apart my labia and flicked the leather strap across my clit. I let out a cry, and a groan of need. Working at a steady pace, he snapped it continuously until my moaning hinted I was close. He raised the whip to my pelvic bone and slid it along my abdomen, up and over my nipples.

Satisfied I’d calmed, he again lowered the whip, torturing my pussy once again with the curl of leather, teasing and striking, flicking and patting.

He ceased those delicious strikes, his face reflecting the triumph of masculine control. “Mia, you are soaking wet. Good girl.”

I shuddered when he squeezed my clit between his thumb and forefinger. “Who does this belong to?”

“Well as it’s on my body, I can only assume it belongs to me,” I said. He threw the whip down and disappeared behind me.
Oh no. I really was out of my mind.

Vanessa Fewings’s Interview:

What led you to a career in voice acting?

I've always loved acting - specifically creating different characters, moods and situations with just my voice. As a child I used to spend hours playing with recordings pretending I was interviewing a group of people and doing the voice for all the characters. I studied acting in college and professionally as well but found that stage and screen acting wasn't as interesting -plus I have crippling stage fright! After college I got a job in broadcasting and the voice work just fell into place from there.


Tell us a little about your other voiceover work? (You don’t have to answer this one if you want to remain anonymous) J

As with others in the business, my work is a mixture of audiobook recordings, TV and Film Documentary narration, commercials, video games, etc. Lately though, I seem to be doing more audiobooks and documentary narration.

What is your process before narrating a novel? Do you read the novel first or just record as you go?
I know that many narrators will read the material through and make notes as they go. I tend to have a more unorthodox approach in that I just record a chapter at a time without reading ahead.

This makes the process slightly more time consuming but by doing this I feel like I'm better able to capture the mood of a particular scene more authentically because I'm experiencing it as a unique event - the way the character would. In some novels where the plot isn't linear, I will read ahead because the tone might need to be more reflective - but generally I just record as I go.

While narrating Enthrall, what was it about Mia Lauren that you found most interesting?

Wow.... let's see.... I think the most interesting aspect of Mia is her odd balance of innocence and brass. She's been very sheltered in many respects which makes her soft and impressionable - but on the other hand she surprises you with her gutsy comments and unexpected shows of strength when she stands up to others. She's certainly not one dimensional :)

This genre is similar to Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L James, The Crossfire Series by Sylvia Day, as well as This Man Series by Jodi Ellen Mapas. What was it like reading the erotic scenes?

Funny. I'm asked this all the time! Reading the erotic scenes is exactly what you'd think - it's arousing - but because I'm reading out loud ... acting - I have to stay grounded enough to give the words the life they have behind them. Basically though I try to feel exactly what Mia is feeling but more on an emotional level.

With Vanessa still writing the third novel Enthrall Him, and the conclusion to the series still unknown while you were narrating Enthrall, how did you decide that this project was for you?

Vanessa has a bunch of very well written and successful works so I felt it was safe to assume that the Enthrall series would be as successful if not more so.
How did you find the right voice actress to narrate the Enthrall Session?

I had the pleasure of listening to the auditions for my character Mia Lauren, submitted via ACX (Amazon’s Audible Creation Exchange). There were some fantastic takes on Mia, but Abra Neville stood out as not only the best fit but her other work was extraordinary. Her audition blew us away, and we immediately asked if she’d be willing to narrate all three books in the series. We were thrilled when Abra signed on.

What was it like hearing your character’s voice for the first time?

Mesmerizing. It gave me chills. It was a delight to hear Abra bring out all of Mia’s cute traits and feistiness. Abra really gets Mia Lauren, so much so, that sometimes while writing Enthrall Him I could hear Abra’s voice. Which was kind of fun. She leant her talent and passion, and it really comes through.

Although you’ve written in other genres, your Enthrall Sessions Series has been compared to Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L James, The Crossfire Series, by Sylvia Day, as well as This Man Series by Jodi Ellen Mapas, so with that in mind your work is erotic. How did Abra handle the sexy scenes?

In order for great sex scenes to work, they must have the characters transcend the physical. Erotic scenes are deserving of a natural and poetic verse, and Abra reads those scenes beautifully.

When will the audiobook of Enthrall be released?

Saturday, November 1st, 2014. With Enthrall Her following over the Holiday Season, and Enthrall Him coming out in early February.

I’m so looking forward to hearing the other two books narrated in the series. I’m thrilled that many of my readers who have enjoyed the books have stated they’ll be enjoying the audio versions too, so they can  revisit the world of Enthrall and Chrysalis all over again.

Chandeliers perfectly represent the Enthrall Sessions Series. There was a lot of research before publication on what would best reflect the books. To me, they perfectly represented the luxury,  decadence, and sophistication of Enthrall and Chrysalis, two underground establishments that cater to the  sensual tastes of the elite.  I’m delighted to show case the covers here.
