The Fourth Key: A YA Urban Fantasy (The Alaesha Legacy Book 2) by Samantha WarrenAnd one becomes two. When I first wrote The Third Key, I never intended to write a sequel. The book was just an idea I had and wanted to get out. It was supposed to be a standalone YA fantasy and that was that. But then, as is often the case, it wasn’t.

I was having lunch with a friend one day and, much to my surprise, she said one of her favorite books of mine was The Third Key. She said she really wanted to know what happened to the characters and how the war turned out. As soon as she said that, ideas started to form. The rest of the series started to build in my head and take on a life of its own. I sat down and started The Fourth Key. As they say, the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry. The book did not turn out at all as I initially intended. In fact, it took a crazy turn I never expected. Now the series is going to be a minimum of three books, but likely at least four. And it will make readers do exactly what I did: drop their jaws and say “No way!” What’s going to happen with the series? You’ll have to read it to find out! The Fourth Key, book two comes out today! The Third Key, book one, is only 99 cents, so grab your copy today!

Author Naima Simone Release Party and $55.00 Amazon Gift Card Contest Live Here!

Beauty and the Bachelor by Naima Simone
Beauty and the Bachelor (Entangled Indulgence) (Bachelor Auction) by Naima SimoneI have a confession to make. A guilty pleasure to admit to… No, not my Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta and Total Divas obsession. Nope, not the fact that I bought the last New Kids on the Block CD. *cough* And no, not my addiction to all things Emily Delicious… Nope, my secret is this…

I love millionaires.
I do. I mean, who doesn’t love a man who, on a moment’s notice, can sweep his woman away on his luxurious jet to a private island? An island he owns, by the way. A man who hands over his double platinum-Pretty Woman-Rodeo Drive card without a care to price tags or credit limits? A man who can close down a five-star restaurant so he and his woman can have a sumptuous dinner followed by a private concert from Lionel Richie? Okay, so I haven’t read the Lionel Richie serenade yet, but still, what’s not to love about a man who can do all of the above? And still be driven, Alpha and sexy? Shooooot.
The hero in Beauty and the Bachelor, my new release from Entangled Publishing’s Indulgence line, is a scarred, bitter millionaire bent on revenge. Now some would ask what do I know about millionaires…namely, my father who asked me what makes me enough of an expert on millionaires that I can write a book about one. *sigh* Such a skeptic, that one. Because I do have experience with the elite one-percenters that qualifies me to write about them.

Here’s my résumé:

1. I watched Silver Spoons, Diff’rent Strokes and Dynasty for years. Research. All writers have to do their research. And I started mine from a very young age. I learned that although millionaires may have their…well, millions in common, they are varied. They are, uh, eccentric—train riding, conductor cap-wearing—and philanthropic as well as ruthless. I also learned what a man bitch slap looked like…
2. I’ve owned real estate property, hotels, railroads and utilities. *Blink. Blink.* What? I have…
3. I’ve inherited wealth from a relative. True, it was a wealth of hair, boob-age and backwoods remedies for bee stings, burns and swollen knees, but it was definitely an inheritance. *nodding*
4. Many of them are cash poor…as am I. For years I worked in the banking industry where I reviewed the profit and loss statements of many a wealthy client. I soon learned a good portion of their wealth was tied up in investments, stock, equipment and real estate. Same goes for me. Althooouuugh, a good portion of my assets are tied up in books, weave, shoes and Cherry Cokes. No, not Coke stock, but literally, Cherry Cokes…
5. I have greedy, grasping family members. So many millionaires endure constant demands of “More, more, more,” and “I want…” from relatives. These family members are always tugging on them to gimme this, loan me that. *sigh* I, too, understand this endless demand of resources. They’re called children.
So how’s that for experience? I’m ready for my high-rise and penthouse now…

Naima Simone’s love of romance was first stirred by Johanna Lindsey, Sandra Brown and Linda Howard many years ago. Well not that many. She is only eighteen…ish. Published since 2009, she spends her days—and nights— creating stories of unique men and women who experience the first bites of desire, the dizzying heights of passion, and the tender, healing heat of love.

Author Angela Addams Release Party and $50.00 Amazon Gift Card Contest LIVE Here!

Author Angela Addams Release Party
Mayhem (The Order of the Wolf) by Angela AddamsI’d like to introduce Mayhem, pack alpha and front man for the rock band Riot. He’s sexy as hell and ready to claim his mate…if he can find her. What is it with bad boys that we just can’t get enough of? Tough on the outside with a hidden soft center that we love to melt…on our tongues…mmmm.

They can come in many different ways (that was totally intentional ;-)) and offer up qualities that in real life might actually be quite annoying. Possessiveness for example, is a standard trait among the bad boys, especially those alpha types. They love to lay their claim whether it be in the form of a bite or some other kind of marking. They flash fang and growl, making sure all the guys and girls around know who you belong to. I love that kinda thing in my fiction; it’s some sexy stuff.
And what about the attitude problem? Stubborn as all hell, probably not really the sharing sort when it comes to admitting feelings and emotions. That’s another one of those traits that drives us deliciously crazy, especially when you’re dealing with supernatural types. It’s the heroine’s job to dig in and get to the bottom of his heart. And she usually does, right?
Mayhem is the epitome of bad boy, a werewolf and a rock star who’s had his fair share of groupies and is looking for more. His wolf demands a mate and with the rest of the guys already finding theirs, he’s even more ready to settle down. But what kind of woman would be the best partner for someone like Mayhem? Sweet and somewhat innocent, Hannah isn’t about to take all the rock star crap to heart.
She’s not star struck when she first meets Mayhem but she also can’t tear her gaze away. She knows he’s bad news for her and so not her type. But who doesn’t love the chance to play with a forbidden sex god?

Excerpt from Mayhem:

“Mayhem! Mayhem! Mayhem!”

The chant swelled momentarily as the door to his hidden sanctuary opened and closed, the muffled sound thumping at the walls, threatening his peace.

“I’m not going out there,” Mayhem growled, the deep rumble enough to warn most people to leave him the fuck alone.

“It’s your launch party, May. You’ve got to go—the record execs have thrown a lot of money into this album.” Unfortunately, the growling strategy usually didn’t work on his manager, Dave Strader. The man had balls of steel. “Seriously, Mayhem, if you fuck this up and they pull the funding, you’re done! We’re done!”

Slumping back in his chair, Mayhem blew out a long breath. “It’s just a bunch of fangirls drinking free booze and wanting autographs,” he objected. And why he’d let the record execs badger him into having the party at his private residence was beyond his understanding. His skin crawled at the invasion of his turf. “Listen to them out there!”

“Wanting your cock, more like it.” Raven, his bassist, snickered from the doorway.

Mayhem rubbed his hand over his jaw and yawned. Yeah, fucking groupies. All they seemed to want was a quick bang and the bragging rights to go with it. He’d grown out of that shit recently, no longer taking pleasure in the multiple opportunities for one-night stands.

The trouble with being a famous rock star was the rumors—his insatiable appetite in bed over the years seemed to have cultivated quite the reputation among the ladies. It meant endless numbers of loose women, but nothing that brought his life any substance. Sounded crazy, but it was true.

What he really wanted, what his wolf wanted, was a mate for life.
Yeah, not going to happen. In his line of work, all he got were fake tits and collagen lips. “I’m not interested. I’m done with fucking groupies,” Mayhem grumbled.

“You just have to make an appearance. Shake a few hands. Have a drink,” Dave said.

His manager’s voice was beginning to grate, and Mayhem was sorely tempted to lash into him. But he couldn’t blame the man for doing his job. And Dave was right—Mayhem’s career was beginning to tank, and the time had probably come to kiss some executive ass… that or start handing out resumes. There had been too many disruptions over the past year— cancelled concerts, a six month forced hiatus—all of which were linked to the politics of being a werewolf and not something he could explain to the industry folks.

“This bullshit about waiting for your mate is fucking everything up, man!” Dave continued. “Seriously, you’ve got to tap into the old Mayhem, the one who could fuck a woman with just a look.”

“It’s my wolf,” Mayhem said. “It won’t accept anything less.”

Although Dave managed Mayhem’s band—which was really a small pack—and knew about their “wolf status” so to speak, he couldn’t truly understand the intrinsic nature of it all. It wasn’t his fault. He was simply incapable of grasping the significance of finding one’s mate.

It didn’t help matters that the rest of his pack had found their mates. Raven, Jaylon, Dyami had stumbled into blissful unions. All but Mayhem. And what were the odds of lightning striking a fourth time?

Nil as far as he was concerned.

“Well, you’re not going to meet any woman, let alone your mate, locked inside this room. Raven, help me out here, would ya? What are the ladies like out there? Any fine ones?” Dave said as he turned to pour himself something from the bar.

“Fine ones? Fuck yeah!” Raven smirked as he whipped out his cell phone and made his way over to Mayhem. “It just so happens that I snapped some pics of the ladies out there tonight. Thought we might be able to entice you out of hiding if you saw what was on display.”

Mayhem waved his hand in dismissal. “Not interested.”

“There are tons of hot babes, May, but I’ve got one just for you.” Raven swiped his finger across the screen a few times. “Ah, here she is…” Before Mayhem could say anything, Raven flashed a smile and thrust the phone into Mayhem’s face. “The tall redhead there, standing with the blonde.”

Mayhem grumbled another rough round of cursing before dropping his gaze to the phone, certain all he was going to see was another fangirl with a big rack and a short skirt. But the second he looked at the screen, he was done for.

Fuck me!”

AC Arthur Release Party
Primal Heat: A Paranormal Shapeshifter Werejaguar Romance (The Shadow Shifters) by A.C. ArthurIs this the end?
When I wrote the first Shadow Shifter book I had a clear idea of how this story would end. That’s not always the case when an author begins a series, but I had time to really plan how I wanted these feline shifters to grow and what ultimate price they would have to pay for the safety of their kind. While some may say that keeping the shifter secret from the humans and protecting their species is an old and much used vice for shapeshifter stories, I didn’t feel that way about writing the Shadow Shifters because in addition to fighting for their cause, the shadows also fought to hold on to their human traits and the love the humans sometimes brought into their lives.
Primal Heat gives a raw and emotional look into the lives of not only the Shadows and the Rogues, but specifically Eli Preston and Nivea Cannon, both shadow guards. These two have been trained in battle, to put the fight before the emotion, yet there is no denying the passion that burns bright between them. In the midst of their greatest challenge as guards, these two must also overcome the hurdle of pasts filled with heavy burdens and the uncertainty of their future. I loved writing this story, loved delving into Nivea and Eli, as well as showing how this world could forever be changed by the knowledge of another species. Now that book #6 in this series is completed and what the Shadow Shifters were fighting for has been lost, I wonder what will happen next, or if the world is really ready for the secrets that it have been unveiled.

Author Sherilee Gray Release Party and $35.00 Amazon Gift Card Contest LIVE Here!

Sherilee Grey Release Party
Crashed (Entangled Indulgence) (Axle Alley Vipers) by Sherilee GreyAs a kid I fancied myself a bit of a tomboy. There’s just myself and my sister in our family, no brothers. So I took it upon myself to fill the void I was positive my father had in his life due to the lack of a boy child. I built ramps to jump my bike, went on motorbike rides with him, and followed him around on weekends asking him a gazillion questions about cars and engines and stuff like that. Plus, I hated going clothes shopping with my mother and sister (l liked clothes, just not the shopping part!). All that aimless wondering through shops. Argh! I’d rather go fishing with dad.
This phase did of course end. The girliness in me could not be suppressed as I tumbled ungraciously into my teens. I grew out of it, like a lot of girls do. Unlike my heroine in Crashed. Alex is the ultimate tomboy (though she, like me, has a secret love of beautiful clothes, it’s the shopping part that gives her hives). She also loves cars, a lot, which is how she became a mechanic. A job in a male dominated industry, and she kicks ass at it!
Crashed is the first book in my Axle Alley Vipers series, and is based around three women running a garage/car restoration business in Miami. Alex works alongside her two best friends’ Piper and Rusty, who also just happen to be Deacon’s little sisters’, the hero of the story. Deacon left behind the family garage years ago and chose a very different lifestyle, and spending time with him, in his world, pushes Alex way out of her tomboy comfort zone!
So a show of hands! Are there any other tomboys here, past or present?
Here’s an excerpt from Crashed and a little taste of how Alex handles those fish out of water situations:

God, she couldn’t bear to see him suffer this way. She would give anything to go back in time and give him the chance to heal the wounds between him and his old man. “So how many charities do you donate to, hotshot?”

His lips lifted on one side. “A couple.”
She turned to face him. “Huh, so you’re not hard and stingy after all.”
He laughed, dark and low. “Oh, I’m hard…”
She slapped her hand over his mouth and shot a look to the front seat. “I’m sure Martin could go the rest of his life not knowing how hard you are,” she said under her breath.
“I’m hard”—he grabbed her wrist when she tried to cover his mouth again—“on those that deserve it. Otherwise I’m a pushover.” He arched a brow, that grin getting bigger. “You have a dirty mind, Miss Franco.” And before she could pull her hand away, he placed it over the massive bulge straining the front of his very nice, very expensive trousers. “And this is what you do to me.”
Goddamn. Right now he was doing things to her as well. She squeezed the ridged flesh beneath her hand, and he sucked in a breath. “You’re such a perv.”
He barked a laugh. “My condition is completely your fault.” He pulled her hand away and held it tight in his. “Now stop trying to seduce me.”
She snorted. “I’m doing no such thing. You kind of remind me of that creepy kid at high school… What was his name again? Robert? Roger? Roger Edgar. That’s it. He spent all his time darting around corners, hiding the tent pole in his pants. Get some self-control, dude.”
He released her hand. “Creepy? Roger freaking Edgar?”
This was fun. She was actually enjoying herself. She shrugged. “You’re the one sitting there with a boner. You’ll terrify your charity guys, walking in with that thing pointing at them.” The look on his face was priceless, and unable to rein it in, she laughed her ass off. When she finally got herself somewhat together, she glanced over at him, and the remaining chuckles died a sudden death. The heat aimed her way should have turned her to ash.

Author Stephen Zimmer Release Party and $100.00 Amazon Gift Card Contest LIVE Here!

Author Stephen Zimmer Release Party
Heart of a Lion (Dark Sun Dawn Book 1) by Stephen ZimmerAn Introduction to Rayden Valkyrie and Heart of a Lion
While at the 5th Annual Authors Fair in Madison, Indiana this past weekend, I was interviewed for a local television station and asked about things that drive my writing. My response centered upon the idea that I like to bring characters to life that inspire strength of character in others.
A clear example of this is found in my latest novel, Heart of a Lion, which is the first novel starring Rayden Valkyrie, beginning a three book story arc called the Dark Sun Dawn Trilogy. Rayden first appeared in the short story “All the Lands, Nowhere a Home” found in the Thunder on the Battlefield: Sword Anthology, but this novel really brings her character out full-force with all of the twists and turns in the storyline.
The genre is dark fantasy/sword and sorcery, and this book has all the goods that a fan of Robert E. Howard would enjoy. It includes hard-hitting, no-frills action, monsters, sorcery and the presence of the supernatural, and some sizzling sensual elements.
But for all of that, this book centers upon a blond-haired female warrior who has no place to truly call home. She is a woman who walks the world according to an honor code, one that is girded by her immense strength of character. She can fight with the best of warriors, but it is her inner strength that I am inspired by most.
She will not hesitate to put her life on the line against overwhelming odds if that is what is called for. Nor does she suffer the predators of the world, something made very clear in a rather stark and graphic event occurring early in the novel.
I invite readers of all genres to meet Rayden, as I strongly believe the example that she offers is universal in terms of inspiration. She has carried me through some tough times already and I know she can be a light to others. Rayden embodies everything that it means to have the heart of a lion and I feel strongly that all kinds of readers will enjoy their adventures with her!

What does it mean to be human? Salvation Eternal (The Eternal Series) (Volume 2) by Joseph Mazzenga and Christine DePetrello
Breathing oxygen. Walking upright on two legs. Sentience. Language. These are definite characteristics associated with human beings, but do they get at the heart of what it means to be human? Don’t they fall a little short on explaining the awesome power humans wield? Don’t they fail to reveal the layers to our humanity? Our potential?
Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines human as “a bipedal primate mammal.” Rather cold and scientific, don’t you think?

Being human means so much more than giving birth to live young, being warm-blooded, and having hair covering most of our bodies. Being human means possibilities, opportunities, and journeys. It means setting goals, striving to reach them, and celebrating when we cross our personal finish lines. It means having not only an intellectual response to literature, art, and music but an emotional one as well. It means creating literature, art, and music. Humans express themselves, build connections with other humans, make mistakes, learn from those mistakes, then make more mistakes.
We are experiments in progress. Variables change. Adjustments are made. Results are analyzed. Then we toss all that aside, live through the pain, fight for what we want and believe and deserve. We lead with our heads and our feet. We listen to our guts, our sixth senses. We let our hearts be in charge every now and again just to see what happens. We defy the odds.
Another day dawns after a cold, dark night, and we relish the feeling of the sun on our faces. We are part of everything around us. Being truly human means tapping into all that the Universe offers, drawing energy from nature, from our relationships, from deep within ourselves. Our bodies represent us, but our souls define us.
And our actions will be how we are remembered.
We are humans, and the road is not always an easy one. Our duration is unknown, but we take comfort in the fact that we are not alone. Though our voyages may not be the same, we share a lifeblood that binds us all. We find our place. We fit in while struggling to be unique. We accept the embrace and though we know eternity will never be ours, we enjoy our fleeting trips and hope we haven’t wasted the gift that is life.

Books in the Eternal series in the order they should be read: Night Eternal Salvation Eternal

Excerpt from Salvation Eternal:

Good Evening.
Darkness. Cold, unforgiving, and muting all in existence. Humanity’s sight was forever entrenched… until there was Light.
Souls are tender things. Unseen by human eyes, but eternally precious. We battle for their preservation every second of every day. Intangible, yet fragile, our souls need protection from the Darkness that seeks to blacken our existence.
The Light searches for us, our salvation its mission. Warm and expanding, it wishes to fold us in a tight embrace. All sins are forgiven for those who repent.
But do we lose ourselves in the process?
Might there not be perfection somewhere between the Dark and the Light?

The Cast

The Demon

And when time finally stands at rest, I will be my only companion.
Framed. Reviled. Driven out. Yet it will end in a lonesome stead.
When humanity was called mankind, I hefted the moniker of devil for I was birthed with accused blood relation.
Misunderstood. Misguided. Mistaken. All under the guise of demon.
I am not of Him or with Him. I am untaught with isolation.
I am Lucia Demone Cavaliere.
I suffer evil. I repulse all that is good, nonetheless a starless night is not a white shore. I am never fully unspoken.
So be it.

Humanity calls on me, alone. They call me to do their bidding hitherto they are pawns in the offing of death.
Dimness instead of brilliance. Look for me not in what you call Heaven.
Look for the demon in your life that you call Hell…

The Angel

Saving souls is a daunting task.
There is no shortage of lost ones in need of redemption. Their numbers multiply by the second, but I am only a solitary guardian, doing what I must, what I have been charged with by Him.
I’ve heard The Call, chosen my fate, accepted my destiny, and the lost shall not stay lost. Not on my watch.
I am Father Nathaniel O’Ryan.
His Light flows through me and seeks the Darkness. Souls reach out to me, often without the permission of their hosts. I deny no one, for each soul started with Him. Each soul has the Divine Light. It may dim, but it is never extinguished. Not fully. I can always find it. Through me, He rekindles, reclaims, rejoices.
Some resist, but I am not easily discouraged, for He walks with me
We can all shine in His embrace.
I am here to make sure we all remember this. I am here to save you.

Summer’s Eve

I miss all that is bitter
The bite of winter is no more
Surrounded by the stench of roses
To the death for an autumn breeze
There is no home
Save for the dark alley
The path of the ill gotten
Mist that fills me
Desire that takes me
A devil in disguise?
Worse yet
I am right before them all
~Lucia

Solstice Song

More hours of precious sunlight
to shine into the souls I seek,
the souls which don’t accept
the light,
the warmth,
the embrace.
With the coming darkness,
blackened spirits
will summon me,
sing their songs of misery,
then reject my outstretched hands.
My offers will be many,
unlimited,
unconditional,
but acceptance equals defeat
in the eyes of the broken.
Healing is not for the impatient,
nor the weary.
A strong heart
must decide to be strong.
~ Nathaniel

Playthings

An entrance
All for me
A plaything is what I seek
A plaything I shall have
An entrance
I am all strength and fire
Doors open for me
Hands jut out to aid me
Children, boys, gentlemen, animals
All for conversation
And a promise of ecstasy
All too easy
The trap is set
The bait is my body
It is all too simple
A dark wretched corner of their mind
They are just that
Playthings…
~Lucia

About Joseph Mazzenga

Author Joe Mazzenga
Author Bio:
Born in a small town of the smallest state, Rhode Island, Joseph Mazzenga, knew he was a writer by the third grade. When his creative simmer turned to an imaginative rage, he embarked on a voyage with no anchor and no horizon. He stepped aboard knowing that this journey will be for the rest of his days. He still looks to the stars to find his way. The navigation can be plodding but the bearing is clear.
Joe is now a full author, by way of children’s literature, Science Fiction, Non-fiction, and Urban Fantasy. Ever pursuing the itch that he can’t possibly scratch, he is constantly stretching his boundaries, honing his craft and fighting mortal enemies such as avoidance and procrastination at every turn. Whether it is a beloved stuffed seal, a hard-nosed orphan stuck on the raw streets of a future time, or a pre-apocalyptic vampire turned human, he is fantasy intermingling with the future. Joseph continues to live in Rhode Island, center of the creative universe.

About Christine DePetrillo

Christine DePetrillo
Author Bio:
By day, Christine DePetrillo teaches fifth grade and inspires young writers. By night, she writes everything. Adult romance, young adult romance, science fiction, fantasy, poetry, pieces about nature, and pretty much anything else that pops into her head. She can’t NOT write. She’s tried, but The Voices won’t let her. They insist she writes their tales.
Today, she tells stories meant to make you laugh, maybe make you sweat, and definitely make you believe in the magic of love.
Christine lives in Rhode Island—and occasionally Vermont—with her husband, two cats, and a ginormous German Shepherd who guards her fiercely against all evils.

The Outerlands by Jared R. LopatinWhat book do you reach for when you’ve had a hard day? For myself, I always pick up my well-worn copy of A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle. There’s comfort in reading “It was a dark and stormy night” and knowing that I’m about to meet Meg Murry and the fabulous Mrs. Whatsit. It’s familiar and exciting and my body automatically relaxes as I dive headfirst into L’Engle’s world.
Growing up, I wasn’t the most popular kid. Hell, I wasn’t even close to popular. I was of the fringe group and as a teenager, that’s a tough place to be. I had a few friends with whom I would socialize, but my most reliable companions always waited for me between the pages of my favorite books. I made friends with lions, mermaids, and blacksmiths as I traveled to Narnia, Neptune, and New England. Reading wasn’t just a fun activity; it was a place where I was welcome and safe. A comfortable blanket to curl up in. It still is.

With my newest book, I wanted to explore the idea of retreating into the world of fiction as a means of escaping our everyday lives. In The Outerlands, Alex is looking for just that: escape. He goes to extreme measures to get it and ends up, quite literally, in a familiar story. Still, just like when I return to one of my favorite childhood books, the story isn’t exactly as I remember it. I have new experiences now and I see the words on the page through different eyes. Though reminiscent of Alice’s Wonderland, the Outerlands aren’t quite what Alex recalls from his beloved childhood story and it’s unsettling to him.
Although some of us would love to stay in a fictional world forever, eventually, reality calls. We must put the book down and return to the tasks of everyday life. We have that luxury of leaving a story and returning when the mood suits us. Alex’s predicament leaves him with no visible means of coming back to the life he left. Would you be willing to live inside your favorite story if it meant that you had to say goodbye to everything you knew?
I teach high school English, and one of the most recent literary elements that I taught my students was the concept of a quest. Thomas C. Foster says that, at the end of a quest, a character must have some kind of self-knowledge. I won’t tell you what, if anything, Alex may learn by the end of The Outerlands, but I can promise you this: Alex is most definitely on a quest.
Then again, aren’t we all?
