One kiss could be the last.
Seventeen-year-old
Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with
a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has
abilities no one else possesses.
Raised among the Wardens—a
race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity
safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from
those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy,
incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on
since forever.
Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot
demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay
away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole
no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.
But
when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising,
trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand
her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket
to the end of the world.

My opinion:
It is so fricking Cooool! Totally entertaining!
Those
granite statues hanging around were there to protect human from demons? Love the way it plays right into reality and
yet is filled with all kinds of fantasy.
Perfect urban fantasy. The world
is so perfectly woven between the lines of this short dip into the warden
world.
Jasmine belong to a clan of Gargoyles wardens. It seems she's don't meant to procreate a
dying breed that his females is very heavily guarded. "...a
half demon, half gargoyle teenage girl risks the wrath of her adoptive
clan and the trust of a boy Dez, she’s loved since the head of the clan brought her at age of 10 from the orphan house. Zayne is home-schooled, but she could go to regular high school for her this meant freedom. Dez for her now is more than adopt brother, but she can't dream of something more serious, as she tainted by the demon blood in her veins. Gargoyles hunt demons and by this protect the world from them. Yeah, she loves him but can't tell him anything. I love that she doesn't fall at his feet. Oh course, I would
never expect anything less than a strong girl from one of Jennifer's
books. Even though the culture is repressive, Jasmine doesn't just take
it.
Zayne is
one gorgeous gargoyle! A male warden, he has a duty to hunt demons. But
he loves Jasmine, you could tell this from the way he treats Jas . I love how he is with
her. He gives her what she wants and he tempts her with his kisses
but he never pushes her too far. He respects her pain that he
caused. He will patiently fight to win her back. I respect that and
him.
Roth is wickedly sexy. I am sooo Team Roth. Gotta love the true-love-conquers-natural-evil-instinct stuff too. Armentrout delivers a terrific character in Roth, the unrepentant
demon. by partnering up with a
sexy, dangerous demon who claims he can protect her from dark elements
in a usually quiet demon population." As Armentrout keep writing about him you are not sure anymore who is evil and who is good.......(Are demons are just a necessary evil? Who are this archangels who is too deep in there own politics? Why Gargoyles have a pure souls if they still can do unspeakable things?...
At this point you really start to think hard.....
Yes, a novel about exotic paranormal hybrids, but one’s
which written with wry humor that making it
constantly entertaining no matter its subject. Armentrout’s
sophisticated, layered humor keeps the narrative bubbling all the way
through.
Lots of action. Lots of cool creatures. The world building is fabulous. What I love about this book is that it's got all the hot points you'd
want from this genre, but it's delightfully original as well, sort of a
perfect mash of originality and formula.
