Author Molly Harper Guest Blog and Book with Gift Card Contest LIVE Here!
So here’s a confession. I’ve never seen a ghost. Molly Harper, believer in all things paranormal, has never seen a whisper of an apparition. I’ve seen things that I thought were apparitions that turned out to be shifting curtains or tricks of light. I have had dizzy, cold, uncomfortable feelings in old buildings. Hell, I avoid antique stores because I think I’m too sensitive to whatever emotional residue people leave behind on their belongings. I lived in a dorm supposedly haunted by a kindly ghost and woke up with the blankets I knew I’d kicked off during the night tucked around and under my body. But I’ve never SEEN anything.
I recently visited New Orleans, one of the most haunted locations in the world, and NOTHING. I visited Lafayette Cemetery, wandered the French Quarter at night, NOTHING. Heck, I even helped host a panel on ghost stories of the city, and we mentioned Marie Laveau’s name every other sentence – NOTHING. (Also, by my estimate, Marie Laveau is supposed to haunt at least fifty percent of the buildings in New Orleans. She’s a busy lady.)
But, now that I’m home, I think that’s a good thing. I don’t think I should see anything. I don’t know if I would be able to handle it. Hell, I spent most of my trip to New Orleans afraid of bumping into the wrong tombstone and bringing a pissed off spirit home with me. I don’t want to know definitively that ghosts are real. I like the mystery too much. I like hearing the backstory to the haunting and trying to determine whether it’s plausible or scary enough.
I’ll keep my vague and dizzy feelings, thank you.
So here’s my question, whether you believe or not, would you want to see a ghost and know for sure that it’s a spirit? Also, feel free to share any sighting stories. And if you have questions for me, feel free to ask.
About Molly Harper
Author Bio:
When Molly Harper was eight years old, she set up a “writing office” in her parents’ living room, complete with an old manual typewriter and a toy phone. And she (very slowly) pecked out the story of her third-grade class taking a trip around the world and losing a kid in each city. She had a dark sense of humor even then.
When Molly was considerably older, she headed for Western Kentucky University, where she majored in print journalism. After graduation, she landed a job with The Paducah Sun and married her high school sweetheart, David, a local police officer. After six years at the newspaper, Molly took a more family-friendly secretarial position at a local church office.
Molly’s books are published by Pocket Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. They are available in print, as e-books and audio books at major book stores and on Amazon. Molly is a native of Kentucky. She lives in Paducah with her husband and children.
