Thank you for having us here with you, Rachel and Bitten by Books! We have been so excited about this event! You may have seen us around Facebook throwing crazy book parties, hanging out, having fun, and sharing our love of sexy romances and troubled alpha men you can’t help but fall in love with.
Dawn: We decided to ask each other some questions about our latest releases. I don’t know about you but, I’m always curious about where a story idea comes from!
Renee: Great idea. First up is Dawn Montgomery.
Dawn: That was fast!
Renee: LOL! Dawn is taking on genetic tiger men and dangerous pirates in her latest sci-fi action adventure romance series. Book one, Silver Tongued Devils, has released. Dawn, tiger men? Pirates? How did Silver Tongued Devils come about?
Dawn: Last year I was in the middle of writing a really tough novel. Midway through I needed a break from it and wanted to work on something completely different. Science Fiction. Sexy ménage. Action adventure. I saw Brom (the tiger man) and Na’varr (the pirate) in my mind’s eye. Brom kept watch from the roof of a building while Na’varr ran a nefarious deal with a dangerous criminal. Both were very dangerous and incredibly sexy. After that scene played out in my head, I had to write them. So I plotted Silver Tongued Devils and set it aside until this year (when my writing schedule allowed).
Renee: I’m so glad you did. What is your favorite part about writing in space?
Dawn: I can create strong, powerful characters that live perfectly normal lives on the fringes of space. More than a few friends and readers have mentioned being intimidated by science fiction, but I wanted to show them that it’s a great genre to fall in love with. You can get swept away by any story, no matter what.
Madeline: I was able to see Silver Tongued Devils from concept to creation.

Devils’ Due, book 2 in the Silver Tongued Devils series, will release in July. Dawn also has a print novel, Primal Hunger, releasing at the end of the month.
Next we have Madeline Pryce. Madeline has wowed the paranormal community with her edgy Dark series. She’s tackled necromancers, living vampires, and zombies in her latest book Crimson Sins.
Dawn: Madeline, zombies? My fangirl heart is full of happy over this book (if you haven’t read it yet, definitely do so!). I can’t wait to hear what made you write this one!
Madeline: Zombies never get the girl. Or do they? When I wrote Crimson Sins, I wanted to create a unique, spine tingling novel full of romance, horror and suspense. I wanted something different. Inspired by Laurell K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake series, I decided to spin the necromancer tale and make it something that was all mine. Zombie. Necromancer. Bastian Hale is a hot blooded alpha male with a curse. Either succumb to his need for blood or pay the price — lose his humanity. Crimson Sins isn’t your typical Paranormal Romance. It’s dark, dangerous and delicious.
Dawn: I loved the way you spun Necromancers in this book. It’s really awesome. What was the toughest part about writing Crimson Sins?
Madeline: Two years ago I wrote the story with a different hero. One of the other brothers, actually, Nolan. Halfway through I knew it wasn’t working between him and Morgan. When I realized it was Bastian, not Nolan, who would be the perfect hero for her, I was devastated. It took some time to come back to it.
Renee: A total rewrite? That must have been tough!
Madeline: It was, but I’m so glad I did it. Bastian and Morgan are intense together.
Dawn: I have to admit that Nolan’s overprotective, older brother vibe really made me want his book.

Renee: LOL. Thank you for that insane introduction. I’m blushing like crazy.
Madeline: Don’t be! It’s the truth. So tell us, The Cull. I love how they choose carefully who will become a werewolf. Your series is really unique. What made you create the Lycanos?
Renee: When I started conceptualizing The Cull series, I knew I wanted to write a werewolf world that riffed off the classic werewolf, but still had a unique twist. Talk about a tall order! The mythology has been covered by so many books, movies, and television series, it took me several brainstorming sessions before I came up with the Lycanosapian Tribes, and the reasons they would turn humans. I started thinking about how poor our economy is right now and the “what ifs” began. What if the Lycanos grew infertile after one or two generations and needed the freshly culled to insure their species survival? What if they chose times of great peril and strife to cull humans so that the change would benefit not only the tribe, but the humans as well? The last time the cull took place was during the Great Depression.
Dawn: I absolutely love the idea of needing to cull for new blood.
Madeline: Me too!
Renee: Thank you, ladies! This idea allows me to choose characters in real need to write about. Anna, in Protected by the Alpha, is dying of cancer, and Eve, in Protected by the Alpha, has had her life turned inside-out (lost her job, her car, her apartment, and had to file bankruptcy) by a mysterious stalker. For both of them, the culling is new start. It doesn’t hurt that they have hot alpha heroes who want to be a big part of those fresh starts, either.
