Fallon's Review:

This story is about girls nobody wants and are treated horrible.
Luce is one of those girls who has nobody who cares. Her father disappears in a storm. She is stuck with her neglectful horrible uncle. Luce falls off the cliffs into the waves below instead of dying she becomes a mermaid.

Luce soon finds out there are many girls like her. Girls that have been forgotten, neglected and unloved. The mermaids are so different then anything she has ever known. They are very beautiful. The way you look when you become a mermaid is the way you will look forever. Luce is so captivated till she finds out that they kill people by singing using their beautiful voices to lure them to there death. Luce has the most beautiful voice ever. She finds she is torn to not be part of the killing of humans.

This review is a hard one. I love mermaid books. The problem with this story is that it was made to be modern story and is  not believable. I felt like there needed to be this fantasy element for it to work. We have way too much technology now to not notice tons of ships sinking in one area. It was just a little not believable. If that many girls disappeared that close to water, someone would have established a pattern and investigated as well. That being said I did like this book. I am hoping the second and third books are better. I am giving this book 3 out of 5 stars and I will be continuing on with the trilogy.

And while the mermaids cling to the idea that humans never suspect their existence, there are suddenly ominous signs to the contrary.
     But when Luce and Dorian meet, they start to wonder if love can overpower the hatred they know they should feel for each other. Can Luce fulfill her rightful role as queen of the mermaids without sacrificing her forbidden romance with Dorian?

Fallon's Review:

This book starts off with Dorian and his POV. Then it changes to Luce POV of her on her own. She is done after what happened after Catrina. Soon Dana comes to tell Luce of the unrest in the tribe. She wants her to come back and claim her place as queen. Dorian is so angry of the death of his family and wants answers.He is seeking answers from the mermaid he remembers saving him. 

Dorian can not get Luce face out of his mind and when he meets her again he kisses her and as messed up as he knows it is he starts to have feelings for Luce. Meanwhile a mysterious mermaid from across the seas arrives. She informs Luce she knows nothing of their origin or the laws that bind them to the sea.

I am so glade I continued reading this series. This was so much better the Lost voices. I loved the change of POV. Getting to see the humans perspective and the effects of the siren song was so intriguing. I felt this explained so much and simplified what was made complicated in the first book. I am so happy I read this book and will continue on with Twice lost. I am giving this book 4 out of 5 stars.
