• How long have you been writing?​  I have been writing all my life. It wasn't until 2009 that I thought about publishing. Since 2010, writing has been more than a hobby or side business to me...it is my vocation. 
• Is it exciting being an author?  That is a hard question to answer. There are many exciting things about being an author - creating amazing stories, meeting cool people, and doing a little traveling. But most of the time, being an author means sitting in the chair and working. Hard. 
• How do find time to write and have a fulltime job and be a mother, etc?  Balancing everything can certainly be a challenge. And in truth, there are times when I wonder if it wouldn't just be easier to cut the writing out. But, I love it too much to stop. So, I find a way and go easy on myself when the obligations in my everyday life take over my writing time.

• What's the hardest part of the writing process for you?​  Definitely the initial draft. Many writers find it easy, but not me. I struggle with my need to edit as I write (a definite no-no), so my initial drafts sometimes take a very long time. But, once the words are out of my head, I love editing.
• Do you have a particular time of the day devoted to writing? Honestly, I wish I was that disciplined. Sadly, that is not the case. I fit writing into my schedule whenever I can, which usually means weekends and holidays. I am trying to write every morning - a habit that has not quite taken hold yet!  
• Do you outline or do the stories just write themselves?  Both, actually. I am definitely an outliner - I like to know where the story is going, carefully crafting many aspects of it. That said, I think it is important to be open to where the characters want to go. 

• Do you prefer writing fiction or nonfiction?​  That varies with the project. The truth is, I love both - for completely different reasons. My nonfiction enables me to help others, something that is part of my purpose on this planet. It fulfills me in a very special way; there is nothing quite as special to me as hearing that a specific book helped someone in a specific way. My fiction feeds the artist in me. It is a profound experience for me to writing fiction - something I would not want to give up! I love exploring characters, emotions, and plots that challenge common opinion and give voice to things most of us may never experience or feel.
• You write in many genres. Is there something you'd like to write that you haven't done yet?  Definitely! One day I'd like to write a humorous, chick-flick styled story; something for younger teens that speaks to the coming of age theme. I'd also love to write a thriller or mystery with someone else. I think that partnership would be amazing! 
• Do you have a particular book or character that you've written that you like the best?  Not really. I love all of the stories and books. Nesy and Aydan have been part of my life the longest, so I feel like I know them the deepest. Their story touches the romantic in me, and I doubt I will ever let go of them as characters completely. With nonfiction, I love each book for different reasons.  

• What's the craziest thing you've ever done?​  As crazy as my characters in my novels may be, I am much simpler than that, preferring to spend time with my family or reading a great book. That said, I do take time walk on the wild side periodically. The craziest thing yet? Swimming with sharks. Literally. Crazy. Exhilarating. And fantastic! Definitely a way to get the blood going! 
• Is there an unusual hobby you would like to learn?  I'm not certain that this is a hobby, but I have always wanted to learn two things - how to wield a broad sword and martial arts. I enjoy kickboxing very much, so I guess the interest in martial arts is not surprising. The swords - I am certain that is just from the battle scenes I spend so much time researching. LOL! Other than learning those skills, I would love to one day learn to rock climb on the hard stuff - glaciers and such. Not that I would ever do it. But I'd love to learn how. I guess I am a little more crazy than my modest life would indicate.  
• What's with the fascination with Skinny Vanilla Lattes?  Ha! I don't have an office at work. So, when I have some serious words to pound out or a tight deadline, I usually head to one of my favorite writing caves - my local coffee shop. And since I am there for hours, I drink coffee....too much coffee. My poison of choice, skinny vanilla lattes. Iced. Hey, I don't have many vices. This one is pretty tame!
