No matter how much the paranormal politics of Atlanta change, one thing always remains the same: if there’s trouble, Kate Daniels will be in the middle of it…
As the mate of the Beast Lord, Curran, former mercenary Kate Daniels has more responsibilities than it seems possible to juggle. Not only is she still struggling to keep her investigative business afloat, she must now deal with the affairs of the pack, including preparing her people for attack from Roland, a cruel ancient being with god-like powers. Since Kate’s connection to Roland has come out into the open, no one is safe—especially those closest to Kate.
As Roland’s long shadow looms ever nearer, Kate is called to attend the Conclave, a gathering of the leaders from the various supernatural factions in Atlanta. When one of the Masters of the Dead is found murdered there, apparently at the hands of a shapeshifter, Kate is given only twenty-four hours to hunt down the killer. And this time, if she fails, she’ll find herself embroiled in a war which could destroy everything she holds dear…
**Includes the bonus Kate Daniels story Magic Tests**
Hi, everyone!
Magic Breaks, is the seventh Kate Daniels novel, is finally being released into our hands! (Of course, I myself have read it twice already, but that won't stop me from reading the hardcover when it finally gets here.)
Magic Breaks is not just any ol' book. It finishes a seven-book long story arc and sets foundations for an entirely different one. It was, undoubtedly, very hard to do but it was done fabulously. In addition, this is the first Kate Daniels book published in hardcover, which I know authors were a bit nervous about (Ilona tends to write delightfully neurotic blog posts), but I for one am excited to have this in a format that's likely to stay in mint condition. Mass market just isn't good enough for this series.
To celebrate the release of this beauty, I joined forces with the lovely people at Penguin and put together a giveaway for you guys. You can enter to win one of 3 copies of Magic Rises, the sixth book in this series. I made enterting as easy as possible for you.
About Ilona Andrews
IIlona Andrews is the pseudonym for a husband-and-wife writing team. author2sm“Ilona is a native-born Russian and Gordon is a former communications sergeant in the U.S. Army. Contrary to popular belief, Gordon was never an intelligence officer with a license to kill, and Ilona was never the mysterious Russian spy who seduced him. They met in college, in English Composition 101, where Ilona got a better grade. (Gordon is still sore about that.)
Gordon and Ilona currently reside in Oregon with their two children, three dogs and a cat. They have co-authored two series, the bestselling urban fantasy of Kate Daniels and romantic urban fantasy of The Edge.

This was my 1st time to read any thing of Ilona Andrews ....so it stated to me a little slow to get into the business. Anyway when i was inside it caught me strongly and i couldn't let the book down till I finish it.
I was so relived to find that it is not a typical were shifters plot and i find the idea of Tech. and magic competing on controlling the world is very very interesting. The world before and after the shift and the Lyc - V Virus. The idea of louping is very scientific on one hand - because it depend on the count of Lyc-v in the blood and on the other hand it is very emotional that the incompleteness made the pack kill those with high count, cuz it turn the shifter to a mindless cruel creature. What make it more emotional is the fact that it happen in young age and actually all the plot turn around finding how to get the magical cure to this problem. But this is not the only plot inside we can find more plots that somehow Ilona can draw together without confusing the reader. Like the estrangement between the American and the European packs, which have a very rare drug which can cure the young's and save the elders from keeling them. The invitation of the American pack as a 3rd neutral party for protection of on of the European packs pregnant princess with chides of 2 other European packs. The past that chase Kate and add another twist to the plot as the all thing discovered as a trap for Kate. .... and so on.
I loved the dry humor that was on the verge of the cynical. And I also love the economical descriptions that tell every thing and the lake of over dramatizations, even when things get tough and the tough must get going.
Beside this just go and read it and make your stand all by yourself, i did enjoy it very much.
This giveaway is US only.
