While preparing to write the next book in The Traveler Series, Destination Happy Heart, authors J.B. McGee and Nicole Andrews Moore sat down with their male main characters, Blaze Christensen and Zane Morrow, to answer the big question:
Who’s going to get the girl? They all agreed to meet at Pretty Perky, the coffee shop in Shiloh Cove at 4pm. J.B. and Nicole sit on one side of the table waiting for the guys to arrive.
J.B. (glances at cell phone): It’s after four. Think they forgot?
Nicole: Nah. They’ll be here. Let’s get food to go with these drinks. (Walks to the counter to order from Sean.)
Sean: Hey, girlfriend. What can I getcha?
Nicole: Well, what do you recommend with our Emmy’s Jamaican Me Happy Coffees?
Sean: Our brownies are fabulous. Let me see if Peaches has a fresh batch coming out of the oven. If not, I know Snickerdoodle is putting the finishing touches on some mini cheesecakes. (He leans over conspiratorially and speaks in a low voice.) Peaches hasn’t been the same since…you know.
Nicole: I imagine. Could we have one of each?
Sean: Sure, I’ll bring them to table in just a few, m’kay, punkin?
Nicole (giggles): And now I have a nickname. Thank you, Sean.
The door opens and Blaze Christensen bursts into the coffee shop. He nods at Sean and walks immediately to the table where J.B. has been waiting. She tries to act calm, but her hand is shaking as she takes a sip of her coffee and her eyes are wide as he sits across from her.
Blaze: Sorry I’m late. There was an accident. (He smirks.) Morrow is having to play traffic cop until a uniform shows up. Looks like you ladies have me all to yourself.
Just then, the door flies open once more. This time, Morrow stands there glaring at Blaze. Nicole heads back to the table and sits next to J.B.
Nicole (leaning closer to J.B.): And so it begins.
J.B.: I think my panties just incinerated.
The authors look at each other and burst out laughing. The men make imposing figures, each tall, dark, and handsome. Morrow has amazing blue eyes, while Blaze’s are hazel green.
Morrow stalks over to the table and glares down at Blaze a moment before speaking.
Morrow: I would have been here on time, but this ass on a bike ran a light and caused an accident. And by ass on a bike, I mean this ass. (He jerks his thumb at Blaze.)
Blaze: I thought I had time. Just take a seat. We’ve made them wait long enough. Don’t you want to know why we’re here?
Morrow (sits): Sure. (Looks across the table at the authors.) So what can we do for you lovely ladies?
J.B. (leans over and whispers in Nicole’s ear): I have a few ideas for what they can do for us. (laughs and ends up in coughing fit) How embarrassing! (continues coughing)
Nicole (chuckling): We’ve been building this love triangle, but now it’s time to let Emmy find love.
Blaze: I think we all know, I’m her guy. We’ve had some amazing moments. Pancakes…and syrup. Need I say more?
Nicole looks over at J.B. who is fanning herself.
Nicole: You gonna make it, J.B.?
J.B.: Oh yeah. I’m fine. Stupid asthma.
Morrow (smiling): The rest of us know there is more to a relationship than syrup.
Blaze (interrupting): Ah, but syrup can really help a couple stick together. (winks at J.B.)
J.B.’s face turns three shades of red and she fans herself more vigorously while she squirms in her seat.
Morrow (rolls his eyes): A true couple needs to have friendship as a foundation. They should talk in person, on the phone, by text. There should be chemistry and more. When was the last time you two talked on the phone? Do you even have
her number?
Blaze (pushes back his seat abruptly): I’m going to go get a drink. Can I get you ladies anything?
Nicole raises an eyebrow and gestures to the drinks. Just then Sean shows up at the table with their food.
Nicole: No, I think we’re good.
Blaze: Well, please excuse me. I’ll be right back. Morrow, you’re on your own. (walks to the counter with Sean)
Morrow: That’s the way I like it.
Nicole: And see. That’s my concern. Morrow, can you see yourself settling down with Emmy?
Morrow (leans back in his chair): Whoa. Who said anything about settling down? I think you may be jumping the gun. Cops and marriage don’t go well together.
J.B.: You’re a detective. That’s different.
Morrow: No. It’s the same. Same profession. Same outcome, from my experience.
Nicole: Wait. Have you been married before?
Blaze returns with his drink and a brownie.
Blaze: Did I miss anything?
J.B. (leans over the table): Morrow’s been married before! He’s not gonna get the girl. In romance, the guy who gets the girl has never been married before. Everyone knows that! (raises her hand for a high five)
Blaze beams and high fives her.
Nicole: I don’t know. We tend to be rather…unconventional. Still, I think I have enough to go on. Any last questions, J.B.?
J.B.: Blaze, can you take me for a ride on your motorcycle?
Nicole (looks at Morrow): She wants a ride, all right. I’m not sure a motorcycle has anything to do with it. (frowns)
Morrow: I sense you’re disappointed in me because I don’t think of Emmy in terms of marriage. At the same time, have you considered what Emmy wants?
Nicole (smiling): You make an excellent point. Okay. I’ll take that into consideration. (looking at J.B.) Let’s go. Your husband is probably expecting you for dinner.
Standing, the authors leave the coffee shop. They stand beside their car a moment.
J.B.: I’m so glad we did this. Blaze gets the girl, right?
Nicole: Seriously. I thought you would want to keep him to yourself. (winks at J.B.)
J.B.: Oh, I don’t know. I’d share with Emmy. Wait? Did you write a book where the guy was married first?
Nicole: No, but I might now. (insert evil laugh here)

About J.B. McGee
Author Bio:
J.B. McGee was born and raised in Aiken, South Carolina. She is the mother of two beautiful children and a stay at home mom/entrepreneur. She finished her Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education at the University of South Carolina-Aiken in 2006. During her time studying children’s literature, a professor had encouraged her to become a writer.
In 2011 it was discovered that both of her children and her husband have Mitochondrial Disease, a disease that has no cure or treatments. Being a writer allows J.B. to remain close to her family, work on raising awareness for this disease and to lose herself in the stories that she creates for her fans.

About Nicole Andrews Moore
Author Bio:
Nicole Andrews Moore has been an author since 2011, but it was after the birth of her daughter, Kenna in January of 2012, that she was determined to make it a full-time career. As the fourth smallest preemie in the world, Kenna’s medical needs would prevent her from ever going to day care. A fan introduced her to JB McGee, who became her mentor and best friend. They have been working together ever since, but The Traveler Series is their first collaboration.
For fun, she spends time with those she cares about, cooks, reads, writes, and especially lives to travel. The current travel goal: visit every Margaritaville. Three down! (Eleven to go?)
