Fifteen-year-old Ashling (Ash) Campbell is a dream-walker but she don't know what does it mean yet. Ash only now that her dreams aren't the normal kind and they are so horrible that it make her afraid to to sleep. As a result of suffering from lake of sleeping, she is most of the time she is tired and sleepy her social life and her studies and her marks suffer immensely from it. But won't be like this if each night he or she will dream about horrific death of themselves. It's a retentive dream about how she’s catapulted to the front row of her future self’s execution - fifteen years from now - where monsters have taken control of her hometown and she, or rather, her 30-year-old counterpart, is their public enemy number one.
To her side stand only one best friend Tate a Lakota boy which she grow with since they were little. Tate is the only one which she can tell the all true about her dreams and even he is a very smart guy he has a space in his mind for the weird things include things from the Lakota myth.
After a real bad night Ash is breaking the dreamcatcher near her bad. Ash falls asleep in the middle of the chemistry lab and wake up screaming. She discovered she’s no longer a mere spectator in those dreams - now she’s astral-projected into the body of her future self and because of the broken dreamcatcher her dreams has manifestation in her real life. The bites she got there were a bleeding reality.
When Tate discovered this he told her about the Spider Woman, known as Asibikaashi; she took care of the children and the people on the land. Eventually, the Ojibwe Nation spread to the corners of North America and it became difficult for Asibikaashi to reach all the children. So the mothers and grandmothers would weave magical webs for the children, using willow hoops and sinew, or cordage made from plants. The dream-catchers would filter out all bad dreams and only allow good thoughts to enter our mind. Once the sun rises, all bad dreams just disappear. So she fixed it with band aid and put it back on the wall.
Since then, each night, she on the run with a ragtag group of rebels - who have no idea she’s really a high school sophomore and not their noble warrior. She has to make it through each night so that she can wake up and find a way to change the future. For every action she does in the present day, she falls asleep to discover it had an equal impact fifteen years later. It’s up to her to manage her two worlds and make sure she’s still got a place in both.
With the help of Tate,she find the answers to the twisted world of demons and death may be within reach. he told her about the Jumlin which appear in her dreams. Once was a shaman medicine man and his wife, Laughing Sky who have no children. Laughing Sky was barren, but the medicine man didn’t want to take another wife. So he plead to the Gods, vowing to disobey all laws if he didn’t have a son. The medicine man keeping his vow used the forbidden magic to open a portal to the spirit realm. Jumlin—an evil spirit–tricks the medicine man into freeing him, promising him many children as part of the bargain. The medicine man agrees, and the Jumlin takes over his body, mind, and heart. But Jumlin had fooled the great Medicine Man. Jumlin had shielded much of his power and once across the Divide, he possessed the Medicine Man, going into his heart, mind and body. The Jumlin was a hard and cruel spirit, dominant and hungry. He fed on blood of living things. First the animals of the forest, then the horses and finally on the people of his tribe. As the Medicine Man, Jumlin had power and control of his people. He first selected the strongest of Braves to feed upon and in his hunger and blood lust fed from them unto their deaths. Jumlin bred, killed, and drank the blood of others. He strengthened with each death, feeding and slaughtering the bravest and toughest braves. Still the Jumlin wasn’t satisfied and he moved onto the women, controlling their minds as he fed on. In the spring, the women which didn't die, became with child in their bodies and their babes were, all healthy, robust children when they grow they turn into monsters. Also Laughing Sky kindled, got pregnant. After the baby arrived, she fell into child bed fever and Jumlin destroyed her and then stole away with his son ,Laughing Bear. The other children he’d fathered, He spread among other villages. The difference between Laughing bear and the other children was that he hasn't a soul and by this he as immortal. the other died but tje jumlin and his son produced new once all the time. The prophecy said that he will turn the blood line to immortals. As the years progressed he and his son traveled between the villages, taking blood, and planting their seeds until one evening Jumlin victimized a chief’s daughter. That was when he caught at last, by Tate the story end with him escaping and his son dieing. by the myth only his son escape. Anyway lugging bear should incarnate. According to Tate the Jumlin is waiting to this incarnation of his son and the fulfillment of the prophecy.
So beside figuring and changing the out come of the future Ash has to prevent this from occurring. She isn't has the knowledge and the experience to do so and has to experiment. During this things started to get complicated and a difference of 15 years cost her much. But 15 isn't a mere number, only one person every gets the ability of dream-walking ans has to prevent from the Jumlin to come back.
Through into this mixed beautiful but bitchy adopted sister - Nadette (which Tate infatuate with), a very busy mom who was responsible of the execution of a local candidate for a local elections, and you will get a crazy mixture.
