Deception is book 9 of my Vampires in America series, which introduces a brand new story arc, The Vampire Wars. The first eight books introduced the eight Vampire Lords who rule all of North America, and at the same time, we’ve seen them forming alliances to stand against the threatened European invasion and war.
In Deception, the story returns to Raphael and Cyn. They were the very first Vampires in America couple, and they’ve appeared in every subsequent book. Raphael is the most powerful of the North American lords, maybe the most powerful vampire in the world, but he is not invincible, as he’s about to discover.
In a final bid to avert a vampire war that seems inevitable, Raphael agrees to meet an enemy he knows of old. She is formidable, wily, and not to be trusted. But while Raphael gets ready to negotiate, Cynthia Leighton, his beautiful and deadly human mate, is preparing for the double-cross she knows is coming. When Raphael’s enemies draw on ancient magic to trap him, taking him away from Cyn and out of the war, she is determined to free him, and she’ll kill anyone who gets in her way.
I’m really excited about this new story arc, and looking forward to revisiting all of my Vampire Lords, beginning with the ones who started it all . . . Raphael and Cyn. They’re two of the strongest characters I’ve ever written, so let’s talk about that.
