~~EXCERPT~~
We were introduced to the Queen quite suddenly. None of us had time to even look in a mirror to fix our hair. We met her in a small, cosy room filled with vases of white roses. She was sitting in a comfy red chair and there was a corgi asleep at her feet. She looked just like she did on stamps. She was quite small, and her hair was immaculately white. She was wearing a cream coloured skirt and matching top with gold buttons; the kind of outfit only The Queen can look good in. When we entered the room she smiled and stood up
"Pleased to meet you, you must be Oscar," she said, shaking Tom’s hand (her voice was exactly as it sounds on TV).
Tom looked embarrassed. "That’s Oscar," he mumbled, pointing at me.
"Ah. Of course. What a tribute you are to our nation..." she said, shaking my hand, then she moved on to Elliot, and started asking him questions.
I think she thought we were a boy band. She asked Elliot where he was from. When he told her London, she seemed surprised, and asked him what religion he was. He said he didn’t know. Then she moved on and started asking Abe Lincoln about his favourite songs. Abe Lincoln told her, then she moved swiftly on to ask Winston some questions, and that’s when something unbelievable happened (and thank god I was looking at Winston when it happened because it’s an image I’ll never forget). The Queen had just asked him what his middle name was. Winston was thinking of the answer, then his face went pale white and he leaned sideways and vomited into a giant Chinese vase. It all happened in slow motion. Elliot, Tom, Abe Lincoln and me gasped. The Queen shrieked, and her corgi woke up and started barking. A guard ran over and took the Queen by the arm and rushed her out of the room. Winston kept saying sorry, but it was no use. We were chased out by a furious Palace guard.
