Storms of Passion
by Lori Power Publication Date: March 1, 2015 Genres: Romance
SynopsisVivian Margaret is tired of reading about other people's romances. She craves adventure. After a fortuneteller shines a mirror on her innermost longings, Vivian enrolls in a sailing course on the other side of the country.
Reservist rescue swimmer and tech specialist, Tucker MacLean has been there and done that, and is not going to fall for a woman any time soon. That is until he quite literally collides with Vivian.
Out of her element, she rediscovers her strength of character and a stubborn ambition to cling to hope when all seems lost.
Not realizing the depth of his intense emotional attachment until a surprise storm threatens Vivian's life, Tuck must find her and bring her back from the heart of the storm. Passion drives him, love sustains him
Excerpts:His hand, such a sweet caress, leisurely cupped her breast as they spooned for the last warm snuggle on a chilly winter morning. Under her thin camisole, his thumb flitted across her nipple causing it to harden and respond. She awoke to his gentle, but insistent movements over her warm body. Her body heat rose and her heart beat quicken.#1:
He stirred behind her and rubbed his loins ever so gently across her backside, prompting her to prostrate into him in a slow circular motion, inviting him in for more. As his hardened member slid along her buttocks, his fingers tickled across her stomach toward its inevitable destination—the wet cleft between her thighs. Moist, warm, and ready, she parted her legs just enough to allow him access as he slid his fingers along her slit, enjoying the slippery feel of the folds envelop his fingers as he slowly massaged and explored her private depths.
“Whew.” Vivian’s toes curled in their thick, woolen socks. She stretched them toward the fireplace on this freezing January evening. She glanced up from the manuscript submission she was reading, titled, The Marriage Bed, one of many she hoped to get through this weekend.
She continued to read:
Awake now, with heat radiating from her core to create a glorious sizzle throughout her nerve endings, she reached behind her to pull his head into the curve of her neck, luxuriating in the feel of his tongue flicking over her rapid pulse. His hand between her legs seemed to keep the same rhythm as her heart beat. She pushed her bottom toward his enlarged member, relishing the feel of its sleek firmness between her buttocks as his hand...
Vivian stuffed the manuscript pages back in the envelope. “Oh, my God,” she said, placing the envelope to the side. Wow. Her body filled with warmth. “That’s it for that one.”
“We should go to a psychic!” Marcy’s smile beamed with enthusiasm as they enjoyed a light lunch at Marcy’s house while the kids napped.#2:
“What? A psychic? Why?”
“Oh, it would be fun. I listened to a documentary about psychics on the radio the other week, and I’ve been thinking about going ever since. Have you ever been?”
“No, never.” Vivian smiled. She was intrigued, but nervous to learn more. “What if they tell us something we don’t want to hear?”
“I’d just tell them, no bad news.” Marcy laughed and reached out to tap Vivian’s arm, her kind eyes encouraging. “Come on, we’ll have fun.”
“Okay, I’m game,” Vivian said, fork poised before her lips, feeling a slow smile rise. Excited at the prospect of an adventure, she noticed how Marcy’s eyes dancing with wonder and curiosity. “Should we make it a girl’s night and invite Jess and Steph?”
While Vivian’s friends hotly debated the accuracy of their readings, she reflected on not knowing what to expect from her fortune, or if she expected anything, but she was surprised at Madame Rose’s attire. Vivian assumed the psychic would be a Gypsy-looking woman with at least a crystal ball nearby, but Madame Rose resembled a modern day woman, wearing a black pencil skirt and white blouse.
The only information Vivian had relayed was her name and date of birth at the beginning of the conversation. She contemplated the psychic’s advice, recounting Madame Rose’s words. “Your number is a five with an undercurrent of four. You love the drama.” Her voice was hauntingly husky as though coming from the deepest reaches of Vivian’s own soul.
“You want…no, crave adventure, but the four keeps you to home. You’re loyal, fiercely passionate, yet you are holding back. You must feel that craving deeply on the inside. That craving of adventure is here in your cards over and over. You want to be spontaneous yet you restrain. Why are you holding back? What are you waiting for? You have so much to give.” Madame Rose paused and nudged the glasses on her nose with her forefinger. “I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know, am I?”
The polished woman stared at Vivian with a question in her magnified eyes, but didn’t offer to discuss the question. She simply took Vivian’s hand, and then read her palm. Brushing her fingers lightly over Vivian’s right palm, the psychic smiled. “You will find what you seek. It is out there. The answer to the question you ask is, yes. Do you know what that means?”
Vivian nodded. “I think so, yes.”
“Be honest with yourself, and know it’s okay to seek your heart’s desire. Do you know what it is?”
