Interview
Tell us a little about yourself and your latest/upcoming release.
Hi! I live in Southern California with my husband and four kids (3 daughters, 1 son). I’m ever so slightly obsessed with good coffee, Taylor Swift, and athletic shoes.
My debut novel is called Beyond the Stars and is being released by Entangled Embrace. It’s a Hollywood love story that (I hope!) will leave readers smiling.
Do you have a book in your house that's just destroyed because you've read it so much?
It’s from my childhood – Where the Red Fern Growsby Wilson Rawls. It’s tattered, torn, and stained with tears, but I’ll never get rid of it.
What was your inspiration for the book?
I finished my first (unpublished book) and it was time to start the something new. I remember sitting on my sofa with my hands poised above my laptop thinking, “I’ve got nothing. Zip. Zilch. Nada.” I sat there staring at my laptop until I sort of zoned out. And that’s when the first line floated into my head: “I try to ignore the pig in the passenger seat.” Once I had that, my mind was racing with ideas for the story. Having a pig as a character in the story made writing it a lot of fun!
What do you normally like to read when not writing?
Great question! I’m not attached to any specific genre. I love New Adult, of course, but I also adore contemporary women’s fiction, YA, memoirs, mysteries, and thrillers. I tend to gorge on a genre before moving on to something else, always circling back to my favorite authors.
Who would you cast for a movie/TV series as your main characters if given the chance?
Ohhh... As a former casting director, this is a fun one! We always made lengthy lists when casting roles, but if I could unilaterally chose just one person, I would cast Ashley Benson as the female protagonist, Jessica Beckett, and Liam Hemsworth as the male protagonist, Jack McAlister.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on my second novel, which is also a contemporary NA romantic comedy. The female protagonist is a young attorney, and the male protagonist is a badass kickboxing instructor.
Can you share a teaser of BEYOND THE STARS with our readers?
There was a loud knock on the door. As we watched the knob turn, Aunt Marnie whispered, “Please let this go well.” And in walked Jack McAlister. Every fear that I’d automatically detest him because he’s an actor was replaced by a new fear that he was way too attractive to work for. He was dressed in ripped jeans and a white T-shirt. On anyone else that shirt would’ve looked plain, but on him, it was like the draping over a perfectly chiseled statue—like you knew something extraordinary was ready to be discovered beneath it. Drop. Dead. Gorgeous.
THIS OR THAT?
