ACA: I don’t like being pointed at. I tend to be brutally honest. I’m afraid of cats.
BBB: Do you have any strange writing habits (like standing on your head or writing in the shower)?
ACA: Ha! Nope, I do not believe so.
BBB: What was the BEST book you read in 2013?
ACA: The Witness by Nora Roberts
BBB: What actors from the PAST (not living now) would you choose to play some of your characters if Mine To Claim were made into a movie or a TV show?
ACA: This is hard. LOL Maybe Cary Grant and Lena Horne
BBB: How do you keep track of your world building?
ACA: I have charts that I keep in word detailing the backstory of the species and the key players. With each story I build on the new details.
BBB: Please tell us more about Mine To Claim and the storyline that drives it.
ACA: Mine To Claim is the story of two wounded souls, looking for something in life but not sure that something is each other. I love the star-crossed lovers theme, but wanted it to be a little more grounded this time around. Setting these lovers in a college and pitting the differences of their genetic make-up against the normal social and racial issues, was my pan from the start.
Grace is the quiet socialite betrayed by her upbringing and those she called her friends. She’s in a whole new world miles away from home at college and she’s trying to start over with a clean slate, to be someone beyond the girl her parents taught her to be.
Aidan is running away from the life he’s known as well, determined not to embrace the future that has been laid out for him, but unable to stop his innate nature.
By fate these two run into each other and then cannot stay apart. The changes they face and the choices they make now will definitely the rest of their lives.
BBB: How many more books there be in the Shadow Shifter world?
ACA: This world began with three adult books which have already been published. Mine To Claim and the two upcoming New Adult novellas are prequels to the Shadow Shifter stories. Right now, the plan is for three more adult books but hopefully I will be able to explore more of the New Adults in this world as well.
BBB: Did you do any kind of research to determine the details of your characters lives / lifestyles?
ACA: I’ve been researching the Amazonian rainforest for a couple of years now. My daughter is a college student so I get a lot of help from her on the campus front.
BBB: Are you a plotser or a pantser? or a Planster (a combo of both)
ACA: I think I’m a combo. I have to plot out the entire story before I begin, but I almost always change how the story flows. It’s funny because I cannot seem to stop doing either one.
BBB: What types of creatures can readers expect in your world?
ACA: Big cat shape shifters to start – jaguars, cheetahs, White Bengal tigers, white lions, and cougars. In some of the upcoming books there will be more technology driven creatures coming to life.
BBB: Do you ever come up with anything so wild that you scare yourself, that leaves you wondering where that came from?
ACA: The whole cat theme is wild for me since I’m actually afraid of them. Each time I write a Shadow Shifter book I scare myself with how detailed I can be about the cats, their shifts and their character traits. I have pictures of them all around my desk and I feel like they might actually be haunting me at this point. LOL
BBB: Who is your top book boyfriend or girlfriend?
ACA: Zsadist from J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I feel in love with him years ago when I read his book and really have not had anyone come along to take his place.
BBB: What’s coming up for you in 2014?
ACA: The Shadow Shifters: Damaged Hearts Trilogy releases in April, May & June. The Shadow Shifters: Unveiling – Shifter’s Claim (adult book) will release in serial format beginning in July. My annual reader appreciation event, aptly titled THE SEASON OF SHIFTERS, will take place Aug 29 – Sept 1 in Walt Disney World. Then, two more contemporary romance releases in October and one in November.

Author Bio:
Artist C. Arthur was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland where she currently resides with her husband and three children. An active imagination and a love for reading encouraged her to begin writing in high school and she hasn’t stopped since.
