Hi everyone! Thanks for allowing us time to talk about our compendium/companion novels – The Djenrye Chronicles series. Rachel and BittenByBooks have been wonderful in supporting us through our self-publishing endeavor, as have all of you who have participated in discussions about Fable – Book 1 of The Lorn Prophecy and Fated – Book 1 of The Djenrye Chronicles.
Why the different series? Well, that’s what we are here to fill you in on today! Toni and I, Lisa, wanted to give you information about the world we created, Djenrye, without writing a boring, and sometimes droning, textbook-style history of the background. Glossary, index, language, appendix stuff is, well humdrum, and unless you are a fanatic and have to know every detail, you really aren’t interested in reading that. You remember in Lord of the Rings how he wrote a separate tome called the Similarion and only the nerdiest of nerds read it? Yeah, that’s what we are avoiding. And yeah, Toni read it.
We thought we could tell the history in stories. Stories are more enjoyable and you’ll get the gist without all that back information. Besides, you get to meet all new and interesting characters and understand what they have gone through and why.
Fated, the first book in the Djenrye Chronicles, tells the story Stevie. It takes you on her and her mother’s journey to come to this (the human) side of portal. If you are interested in reading The Lorn Prophecy series—and we hope you are!—we suggest reading Fated after Fable. Know, however, that Fated can stand alone.
The plan is to write at least four books in the Chronicles series. The next one will delve deeper into the history of the Androne and Faugns and how they came to be. At this time, our goal is to have the last one in the series be about Lorn, the first descendant.
We have had a lot of fun coming up with this and all the stories. They have stretched our imagination beyond their limits and we constantly have book brain. We hope you enjoy both series and look we look forward to bringing you Lore – Book 2 of The Lorn Prophecy. We are halfway finished with the book and plan to have it out sometime this coming winter, maybe spring at the latest.
Thanks for coming along with us on Stevie’s Journey!
Love, Lisa Fender and Toni Burns

Excerpt from Fated – book 1 of The Djenrye Chronicles
Carlynn awoke in a darkened room. A lone candle to her right cast a faint light. Arms outstretched, she felt a quilt and soft bed under her. Her hands moved to her stomach— movement within her womb followed her caress. She gazed around the room and tried to remember how she came to this place.
Clouded thoughts of riding into Tyré swam to the surface of her mind. She remembered pain. The intensity made it difficult to hold on to the reins—the ever-present threat of fainting. A disjointed series of images—white buildings, gated entrance, guards rushing forward as she slipped off Abatos—and then all went black.
They must have taken me to the Guardian Palace.
At least she hoped so.
The sheer curtains covering the entrance from the terrace blew softly in the cool night breeze. In their wake, she caught a glimpse of the stone floor and rock wall of the veranda. A sense of being watched crawled up her spine, but she saw no one.
From where she laid, she could gaze out into the night. The clouds parted, revealing a waning moon. The black heavens were littered with stars. Near the rock wall, a rustling drew her attention. Two gold lights rose over the top. Carlynn stared at the beams as they moved closer. Not lights—the eyes of an Androne Elf.
The Elf approached steadily, quietly. Moonlight glinted off a knife in his hand. She froze. She heard his breath as he edged around the bed. His face leaned in close. A grin crept across his features. He raised the blade above her midsection. Carlynn screamed and lunged to the side.
A stabbing pain jolted her to consciousness.
