BBB: What is your best scar? Tell the story of how you got it.
SF: My best scar is on my arm. Almost three years ago, I fell and broke my wrist. I expected a cast, but no, I had to have surgery where they put in 3 pins, along with the screws to hold the external rod in place. OUCH! It hurt constantly, and I felt like a Borg! Since I’m right handed, I had to learn to do EVERYTHING with my left hand. I also became completely dependant on my husband. The scars serve to remind me how life can change in an instant, and how we are all interconnected and need to work together. No one is an island. It also reminds me that I can do things I never dreamed possible. I learned to do everything with my left hand, even type, and I’m now ambidextrous!
BBB: If you could be invisible for a day, what would you do?
SF: I don’t believe I’ve ever wanted to be invisible. But I guess I’d like to do things that would make people smile and laugh. I’m a bit playful.
BBB: When people look at me, they would never guess that I:
SF: They would never guess the story ideas that go on in my head! It’s probably just as well.
BBB: If a genie granted you three wishes, what would they be? (can’t ask for more wishes)
SF: I wish my mom could be here to read this book. I lost her in January 2012 and I miss her every day. I wish my daughter didn’t live so far away, but I’m so thankful she and her husband are happy and doing well. And I wish (sounds so cliche’) but I wish people would learn to love each other. Life is too short to fuss and fight.
BBB: Please tell us more about The Crystal Slipper and the storyline that drives it.
SF: Celinda is a woman who doesn’t believe in magic. She thinks she’s happy with her mundane life, blending into the background until she meets Preston. Once she experiences the magic of love, she will never be the same.
Preston is a man who doesn’t believe in love. He hides behind the family business and doesn’t think he needs anyone. But after he spurns the affections of a witch, she puts a spell on the only person he loves more than his business, his sister. The witch tells him she will only wake with true love’s kiss. But love isn’t something on his agenda.
BBB: Is The Crystal Slipper a stand alone title or Series? If it is going to be a series how many more books will there be?
SF: The Crystal Slipper is the first in a series. There are two more after this.
BBB: What sets The Crystal Slipper apart from other books in the same genre?
SF: My quirkinessAnd how many other books do you know that take place in Jacksonville, Florida? I enjoyed adding a little local scenery in the mix.
BBB: What types of characters / creatures can readers expect in your world?
SF: We have a witch, a stepmother, the rich man, the poor orphan who hides behind an ugly duckling persona. But she’s really not. Oh, and let’s not forget the fairy godmother!
BBB: If you could meet any author (s) from history, who would you meet and why?
SF: Not too far in history, but I’d love to meet Dr. Seuss. Green Eggs and Ham was the first book I read by myself, and I loved it. I wish I could meet him to thank him for all the hours of fun I had reading his books, and then again when I read them to children. Dr. Seuss was a genius that encouraged so many young people to read. I dove into books after that and never stopped reading!
BBB: Name one funny trait you have, that you would like others to know.
SF: Um, sometimes I laugh at inappropriate moments. Things just pop into my head.
BBB: Tell us something you hate doing and why you hate it.
SF: I hate filing. And housework. Both chores seem to never end and they’re boring.
BBB: As a child, what did you wish to become when you grew up? (besides a writer)
SF: But…I really did want to be a writer! Hmm, I wanted to be a mommy. And I have the most amazing daughter, and I love her so much!
BBB: What was your favorite decade? (50′s, 60′s, 70′s, 80′s, etc.) What draws you to this time period?
SF: Hey, answering this question is going to tell you how old I am! I think we generally prefer the timeframe where we grew up and/or were teens. Maybe the time we fell in love for the first time? Looking back on those decades, the 50’s seemed so carefree and innocent. The 60’s were filled with a mix of war and beatniks and hippies. The 70’s were bell bottom jeans, cosmic concerts, and all of them had fun music.
BBB: What’s coming up for you for the rest of 2014 and into 2015??
SF: I have another book coming out soon (not sure of its release date yet), I also have two more books to write in my fairy tale series. And there are yet other books aching to be written. I also want to attend some writing conferences next year and maybe present some workshops. On a personal note, I’m hijacking my husband on our anniversary for a weekend at the beach. Can’t wait!

Favorite Vacation Destination? I love the beach, but right now I want to go to the southwest and visit somebody special and dear to me. Now who could it be?
